Week of Money: Work, Sleep, Work Sleep, Weekend (?)…Repeat.

DAY ONE

6:20 a.m. — I wake up, and get ready. I really don’t want to go in but I have status meetings twice a day, all for different projects (5) that I’m desperately trying to get off from but can’t seem to.

6:57 a.m. — I get Little Bun and myself ready and head out.

7:34 a.m. — At preschool he screams bloody murder when I try to leave him. They peel him off me screaming and kicking.

7:45 a.m. — At work, I start and don’t stop until lunch. Meetings, people dropping by…

11:50 a.m. — I eat my lunch.

1:12 p.m. — More work work work.

4:15 p.m. — I get ready to go. Little Bun is eager to see me. He had an accident apparently and refused to go to the bathroom even though he was wide awake to do so during nap time.

4:33 p.m. — I pick up my baby and we head off.

7:30 p.m. — At home, noodles, I do dishes, then bedtime.

Spent: $0

DAY TWO

??:?? — Feel like Groundhog Day.. I wake up and Little Bun is SUPER happy to stay home today. He apparently hates preschool now and told me a little boy was mean to him and he hates all little boys and they’re all mean and he wants to fight them all and not be a little boy because they’re mean. Sigh.

7:00 a.m. — I get ready, we do LookBook, Selfies and my partner peels him off me, as he softly cries at the door (not a bad one today).

7:38 a.m. — I head into work, and again, nonstop work until lunch.

11:41 a.m. — I eat my lunch, head out for a walk…

1:28 p.m. — I get back to the office, look down and realize the polish on my big toe is RUINED!? WTF?!… then it dawns on me that maybe spraying sunscreen on my legs, and hitting the toe, sort of softened it (?) and walking with my toe in shoes, it must have shifted the polish. F#%(*#%. It is like washing your car and having it rain the next day. What was the point? Now all I can see is the screwed up polish on my big toe 🙁

2:14 p.m. — Two Green Tea KitKats down the hatch.

4:22 p.m. — Time to go home.

5:07 p.m. —At home, I get into the shower and luxuriate.

5:56 p.m. — Little Bun is … driving.. me.. insane. He didn’t nap today, so he is super grumpy, not listening, jumping around like a kangaroo.. I am SRSLY READY TO GIVE HIM UP FOR ADOPTION.

6:39 p.m. —After the shower, I play with Little Bun and then I do dishes, eat noodles, bedtime.

Spent: $0

DAY THREE

??:?? — Wake up and get ready, Little Bun stays at home again today with my partner.

7:25 a.m. — I get to work, wait until Staples opens and pick up a mousepad (cannot stand my optical mouse not acting properly) and buy a laptop to travel with (a PC with windows). I would take my MacBook Air but the IT guys at work told me that the system doesn’t play well with Macs. I am working while on vacation and don’t want any trouble. I love that I have such a good amount of money saved that I don’t need to worry about things like this. I buy the Microsoft Surface Laptop because it felt the best, was the lightest versus the price and I couldn’t get the Lenovo Carbon Fiber one in time for leaving. $1212.34

10:13 a.m. — Back at work, meetings, new changes, rush rush rush.

12:25 p.m. — Lunch.

1:20 p.m. — Back to work and I’m dying to leave for dinner.

4:07 p.m. — I head out with the girls and we hang out around the area before dinner. I buy a small drink. $0.85

6:34 p.m. — We all go to dinner and it was great. $23

8:11 p.m. — I head home afterwards, and Little Bun is super happy to see me. I forgot that his soccer stuff is in my car so apparently he WANTED to go play soccer with Daddy but everything was in my car at work so they were stuck at home. I make a note to bring it out for Friday as I’m going to another dinner too.

8:28 p.m. — I pull out my new laptop and start to set it up.

8:40 p.m. — I give up when I have to go through more than one screen and I shut down.

9:40 p.m. — Time for bed after Little Bun INSISTS on multiplication table quizzing. I quiz him on his two times and he asks for 3 and 4 and I tell him 2 times first then we will talk.

9:58 p.m. — Bedtime. It is super late so he conks out.

Spent: $1236.19

DAY FOUR

??:?? — Little Bun does NOT want to go to school. I manage to coax him out with a promise of visiting the pharmacy and playing with lipsticks after preschool ….

6:58 a.m. — We get ready and go.

7:22 a.m. — We share a banana and do LookBook before preschool and then I head into work.

7:45 a.m. — At work… non stop until we leave early for lunch.

11:34 a.m. — My friend brings me to this rotating restaurant thing and omfg… I didn’t realize my motion sickness would be such an issue. I know it rotates slowly and all that but it makes me kind of nauseous for the rest of the day. The waiter was a real snob too (French from France!!) because he CORRECTED my friend when she pronounced something with her Québecois accent. OMFG. The food was good but I can’t take this rotating &$@&&?!! … lesson learned. $24.71

1:05 p.m. — I head back to the office after a GOOD chat with my friend – we are such gossip hounds LOL and then I get back to work.

3:30 p.m. — I leave a bit earlier to sit in the lounge and let my head stop spinning before getting Little Bun. I’m really feeling nauseous from that rotating restaurant.

4:25 p.m. — He had a balloon from a friend and as we go to eat our snack in the room, he loses his balloon up to the ceiling (2 stories high) and his lower lip starts to come out and he is almost in tears…. I try and get the janitor to help me but the other guy has left for the day (he had the ladder), so I have to wait until tomorrow, and I try my best to calm him down…

6:00 p.m. — At home, we cuddle, have noodles, run around reciting the 2 times table…

7:59 p.m. — Bedtime. More accurately, I am lying down in bed, and he is wiggling all around me doing everything but sleeping.

9:05 p.m. — Actual bedtime.

Spent: $24.71

DAY FIVE

??:?? — I wake up and Little Bun is still conked out.

6:50 a.m. — I am ready to go, and I quietly sneak out with all of my bags like some bag woman, trying to walk like some Mommy Ninja as not to wake Little Bun and start the cycle of Cuddling, LookBook, Selfies, Cuddling, Sobbing as I leave.

7:39 a.m. — At work, nonstop. NON STOP. NON.. FREAKING.. STOP.

11:56 a.m. — Am soooooo ready for lunch. We hotfoot it to eat some Vietnamese noodles (I know right, on a hot summer day, we’re eating HOT SOUP..) $11

12:50 p.m. — I pick up some snacks — matcha biscuits (QUITE GOOD!), mooncakes, fortune cookies (my boss loves these and he is very stressed these days), and a piece of cake. $16.70

1:18 p.m. — Back at the office, work work work… .. but I take breaks and walk around handing out biscuits and mooncake slices to everyone to try.

2:00 p.m. — My boss comes down all flustered and stressed, and I hand him a bag of fortune cookies before I head off to my meeting. He says: A GIFT!?.. looks like a kid on Christmas Day. He eats three immediately and reads his fortune. He is so happy now.

3:02 p.m. — I drop off a matcha cookie for my boss from the pack, and he is so overwhelmed with happiness (see what a cookie can do!?), he thanks me French-style (you do a double kiss on the cheeks)… He has had a rough, rough EFFING WEEK. The rest of my team is also very happy with the cookies, and they all tell me they really needed it today.

4:30 p.m. — Off to dinner.

5:17 p.m. — I miss two exits because we’re too busy chatting LOL… I am tired, and nervous about driving people (it’s true.. I am calm and in control when I am alone with my son or my partner, but other people, I still get the butterfly feeling that they’re judging me.. even when they are not).

6:02 p.m. — Drinks at a bar before dinner. I don’t drink so I take two Shirley Temples. $9.32

6:43 p.m. — Food! We eat and I can’t even finish the dinner. I should have stopped halfway through and I didn’t, so now I have that uncomfortable over-filled feeling. I take the rest to go and all the guys rib me because they know I have a bottomless pit for a stomach. What I did not account for however, was drinking THREE Shirley Temples which are very carbonated and as a result make you feel full when you are not…..  :-\ … $43.56

9:14 p.m. — I drive the guys home, and drop the other at the metro.

10:12 p.m. — I pick up my mail. I FINALLY scored everything I wanted at 50% off. I love these pants.

10:45 p.m. — Whaaaat!? My baby is still awake? OMG… LOL…Apparently he didn’t want to sleep and I think my partner always gets worried when I don’t come home early (the way that I worry when he comes home late as well)…. so neither of them were sleeping. I wash my face, get undressed, cuddle him and hustle him off to bed.

11:11 p.m. — BEDTIME.

Spent: $80.58

DAY SIX

??:?? — Little Bun is conked out.

6:40 a.m. — He wakes up and is not screaming, he just runs out looking for me, rubbing his eyes. I give him a huge hug and kiss and hold him tight in my arms.

7:59 a.m. — I go through all my credit card statements and clear my budgeting tool (been using it for 10 years!!) to make sure I got all the refunds and everything is fine.

8:36 a.m. — I make a green tea.

9:22 a.m. — I also order these very comfortable, beautiful leather sandals and my partner’s two jackets because they are another 20% off on sale. $193.16

http://www.thebay.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/en/thebay/gustar-leather-flat-sandals-0600089928756--24

11:20 a.m. — My partner comes home and we have lunch.

1:03 p.m. — I head out and Little Bun gets scooped up in the arms of my partner and he only squeals softly and reaches out one arm to me as I leave. I gots a TON of returns to do…

1:47 p.m. — I immediately beeline to Banana Republic and return the last of it all. -$347.68

2:16 p.m. — At The Bay, I return everything but then see the sandals on liquidation and re-buy them and another orange pair I find cute. $109.16

3:00 p.m. — I walk to Zara then The Gap then back to Zara and buy pants for Little Bun. I am sick of mending them because they have holes EVERYWHERE NOW. I am not putting up with this. I buy two sets of sizes to try on him. $84.51

3:55 p.m. — Off to Joe Fresh – nothing there.

4:14 p.m. — To the Post office! I drop off a return and pick up Joe Fresh blotting sheets (like that these don’t have mineral oil), and some batteries for this story flashlight I’m bringing to keep Little Bun entertained… $21.35

4:19 p.m. — I walk towards a grocery store and a guy on a bike asks me if I have time to go to lunch with him. I’m so surprised I just say “No” impolitely,

4:39 p.m. — I then grab a quick aloe drink (love this stuff!!!!). $4.25

4:45 p.m. — And some B12 yeast in bulk because I am using this stuff constantly in my noodles .. it is so comforting and delicious and savoury with soy sauce and some sesame oil. True comfort food. $18.77

5:46 p.m. — Back at home, my feet are slightly blistered from all the walking and I head inside and get Little Bun barreling out, greeting me.

12:08 p.m. — I head to my nearest vegan restaurant (I have a coupon 2-for-1 I need to use), and get 2 burgers. $10.29

3:25 p.m. — More returns at stores. Want all of this done before I leave.

6:17 p.m. — I do all the dishes. Then have cake.

9:04 p.m. — Bedtime. After my partner and I have a huge fight.

Returned: $347.68

Spent: $332.33

DAY SEVEN

??:?? — I wake up and Little Bun is in a great mood. We get up and grab him some milk, then eat a banana together while I finish drying his new pants.

7:04 a.m. — I grab my clothes for today and Little Bun picks out my accessories. I’ve recently decided to take another crack at KonMarie-ing my closet but obviously my problem is I love everything!!!!! What I need is a second storage spot for things that are winter or summer only so I can swap out what I can’t wear during certain seasons.

7:23 a.m. — We head out – my partner is still lying down, probably still angry from last night. We had a fight because he bought some coconut cake thing and I ate mine but Little Bun wanted a bite and I didn’t know!! So of course Little Bun cries real tears of despair and heartache so my partner gives him a WHOLE BIG slice that was meant for my partner. Then before bedtime he starts in on me about how I ate the cake in front of Little Bun and it was MY fault he had to give him some because Little Bun saw me, to which I screamed back that he didn’t have to give him the ENTIRE THING…… RIGHT?!?!? A bite would have done it.

We both had gone to bed angry and I’m fine but I think he was still angry when we left this morning.

7:20 a.m. — We head to Starbucks and I take a Tall green tea latte with a turkey sandwich. We share. $10.67

7:23 a.m. — We head into the trains. $2.75

9:40 a.m. — We ride down one line to another and then come back, and Little Bun squeals that he wants a washroom so when I take him to the park for an emergency pee, he squeals that he won’t do it outside if it is raining (it just started) and he wants to go HOME. I know we won’t make it home for him in time so we head back to Starbucks.

11:03 a.m. — At home, we sit in the car while he plays with the buttons on the car and the console… he loves opening and closing things.

11:25 a.m. — We head inside.

12:02 p.m. — Lunch.

1:19 p.m. — Nap time.

2:24 p.m. — We all wake up from the nap. Oh, my partner left. I was so out of it I really needed that sleep… I didn’t hear him go.

3:10 p.m. — I start on dishes and munch on a Green Tea Kitkat off to the side as I do them. Yeah I’m a cliché. I eat my emotions.

5:27 p.m. — Dinner!! Just some chicken, salad and bread.

8:56 p.m. — Bedtime.

Spent: $13.42

Huh. Yeah, that’s totally unfair. Why did he automatically assume that if Little Bun wanted coconut pie it should come from YOUR slice and not his? Also, I agree, he shouldn’t get mad at you for something he voluntarily did. What were you supposed to do, hide the fact that you were eating pie so as not to tempt LB?!? I doubt that would even work, given how food-driven your little one is.

All your partner did by reacting that way was cause a dumb argument that was his own fault!

(I’d bet he buys LB his own slice from now on!! :))
