Attention all WordPress Bloggers!
Want to stop getting attacks from automated robots trying to guess your WordPress blogging platform and password?
It can cause a lot of server load / lag time, frustration for your web hosts and stress overall if they do manage to guess your ID and password.
You should do the following to fix this….
Download this plugin: Rename WP-Login and rename your WP-Login URL as soon as possible.
What it does is rename your WP-Login page from “wp-admin” at the suffix like:
https://www.savespendsplurge.com/wp-admin
….to whatever you want it to be, like:
https://www.savespendsplurge.com/login
Then you just use that URL to log into your WordPress install rather than the standard one given.
Good luck!

I did this different after I had some issues. I changed my username from “admin” to something much more clever. Then I get the emails from my security dealie telling me someone was blocked from logging in after 5 failed attempts using the wrong username.

So useful!
Another question: what plugin do you use for the check mark to prove we are human? I’d rather not have everything held for moderation.
