I had no choice but to purchase a moisturizer for my face because my skincare go-to brand is Paula’s Choice, but I really needed something fast and quick from the drugstore to deliver some moisture without breaking me out because my skin is going through a period of being super scaly, dry, peeling and strangely, pimply because of the colder weather.

I heard lots of good things from a friend about Garnier Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel-Cream and I would not classify my skin as dry, but more combination / acne, so I picked up the 24-hour moisture gel instead for about $11.50 plus taxes.

 

I started using it last night and while the feel is very good, the perfume is too strong for me. Let me be clear that I actually really hate perfumes in my skincare. I would rather it smell medicinal and disappear quickly, than have it heavily perfumed and stink on my face.

I really do NOT like smells in skincare unless it is more natural smelling.

I will say that in the Garnier gel defense, it isn’t too heavily perfumed but it is perfumed enough for my scent-free, fragrance & perfume-free loving self, to find it annoying. The smell does disappear and it isn’t offensive (just some regular perfume-y smell), but I wish it came scent-less.

I like the feel of it, it feels like a nice light gel cloud cream, and I like the spread of it on my face as well.

I think so. I layered on more of my other serums that are moisturizing, but I did feel like my skin was at least moisturized a little. It didn’t feel oily or greasy, and it absorbed quite well.

I also felt like my skin (finally) didn’t feel tight which is a sign and a feeling for me that I need to load on the moisture or it is craving more.

When I washed my face the next morning, I felt it still on my skin, which I am not sure is a good or bad thing, but at least it was moisturized. It didn’t cure my dry flaking winter skin over night but it did seem to help.

For a drugstore moisturizer, I’d say go for it if you don’t mind perfumed creams.

Me, I’ll just use it until it’s done, but if they had a scent-less version I’d consider it as part of my permanent beauty routine. Until they come out with a version that doesn’t stink of perfumes, I’ll pass, but for this winter, it seems to be doing the trick.
