5 Great Things – Vol. 2

ONE.

Cloth & Stone Chambray Classic Shirt – $89

I bought this on a whim. I have been looking at a chambray shirt for years but none of them looked right. The price was high (more than $100), the fabric felt rough and thin (not soft and velvety), the shape was too long or too short..

Until I stumbled across this in Anthropologie. Someone told me to buy a shirt that didn’t have pockets in front, but then to me it would just look like a light blue shirt.

I feel like the denim-style stitching and look of a chambray shirt is its whole point.

TWO.

Kingston 128 GB Digital SE9 Data Traveler USB Key – $35

We have come a long way in USB keys. Can you believe you can now carry up to 256GB in your pocket in a little tiny key!? Incredible.

Anyway, this is one of the best designs I have seen for a USB key — metal, simple circle to hook onto your keys at the end and no frou-frou for having to slide the USB part in and out to use it (that part in plastic usually breaks)…  It is also reasonably priced.

The Idea of You – Robinne Lee – $6

I was strangely entranced by this book. I started off thinking: Where the heck is this going.. and ended up fascinated, horrified and entranced by it.

It bring up two major points for me to consider in the aftermath:

A) Why are women who are older not considered as attractive? Do we have to perpetually be in our 20s or 30s to be desirable and interesting? Hogwash. Again, I hate this double standard we have in society.

B) I never ever want to be recognizably famous. No thanks. If I want to go for a walk, I should be able to go out without a disguise. How sad.

This was a great read though!

I.T. Bye Bye Undereye Illumination Full Coverage Anti-Aging Waterproof Concealer – $24

OMG what a mouthful. We can’t just name things simply these days? We have to list every single benefit in its actual name?

I digress.

This is an incredible concealer. I dab just a little dot underneath both eyes and smooth it out on the days (most days) when I don’t get enough sleep.

I sometimes need to do three layers of this because I really don’t sleep these days (the trials of being a parent), and it almost covers it completely. Sometimes for extra backup I have to dab some of the yellow colour off this NYX Professional Makeup Color Corrector ($12) as a primer before I even do concealer.

(Yellow counteracts the blue in your undereye circles.)

It is like a liquid paste that is not too watery, very thick, very good coverage, doesn’t flake or crease, and it makes me look like I have slept especially if I finish off with a slight brush of this Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder underneath to highlight.

Karmin – Gasoline – $1.29

I love about 1/3 of this album Pulses. This song in particular Gasoline is very upbeat, energetic and exactly my kind of music when I drive or work.

My other favourite of hers is Neon Love:

The Budgeting Tool

About Me

I am a wealth-obsessed, style-focused, minimalist.

I got out of $60,000 of debt in 18 months with The Budgeting Tool which I now sell online and donate its net proceeds to charity, along with The Investing Tool.

I've also authored two books: Start a Blog Like a Boss - Making $1000 USD a month & Invest your Money Like a Boss - In 4 Hours a Year.

I earn like a princess when I work but am trying hard to live like a duchess instead by not spending all of it.

The rest of the time I relax and enjoy the time off by traveling, although traveling has been on hold lately with the arrival of Little Bun, my rambunctious, ever-hungry little boy.

Welcome.
