Save. Spend. Splurge.

In the world of Save. Spend. Splurge.: Beauty Talk, Steve Jobs Designer Uniform and Silence

1. TOXIC BEAUTY

Reading this article made me pause again and review/re-assess things I am using on my hair, body and skin. I have already pretty much gotten rid of everything that was problematic, which also nicely dovetailed with it being pumped full of fragrance (it makes me so sick now, perfumes and fragrances).

I have also really cut back on makeup in general. The most I do is eyeliner and mascara, then a few creams here and there, but I check what is in them before I use them on my face. Even if nothing comes of it, better safe than sorry.

You can watch her entire documentary – Toxic Beauty – here.

2. LINEN LOVE

I bought this bishop sleeve Banana Republic linen top and I love it. It’s airy, it’s flowy, it’s stylish and on sale.

3. JOBBED OUT

I loved this whole Twitter thread on Steve Jobs’ uniform of a simple turtleneck and jeans. It’s a must-read, and a really interesting perspective because everyone thinks he was a frugal for doing so, when in fact… his turtlenecks were anything but. (Though really, if you think about cost per wear, maybe they were in the end…)

4. HUGS FOR TOES

If you walk a lot, or plan on walking a lot, may I suggest buying these silicone toe protectors? They work PHENOMENALLY to eliminate friction and blisters.

5. GIGGLES

You will surely laugh reading through this post of children’s hilariously misspelled words.

6. PORTABLE

I have been looking for slim, minimalist, portable bowls to bring along on trips or just to carry in my bag for impromptu meals and these foldable Stojo bowls hit that right on the head. They fold flat, and are great for even packed lunches, not just for camping or hiking trips.

7. SILENCE = MONEY

The sound of gentrification is silence“… this article was very thought provoking because it made me realize that.. yes. I do prefer silence. I am used to it. Noise, excessive noise and all of that, does bother me in my neighbours. I wonder if it is from gentrification, if it is cultural, or if I am simply less noise-tolerant these days after having a child.

8. POWERED UP

I have this Belkin portable external power bank and I love it. It is super slim, light, and whenever I am about to leave the home and am horrified my phone didn’t charge or I forgot to charge it, I bring this along and am worry-free. It’s so light (not at all heavy), and it won’t weigh your pockets down.
