Current Shopping Wish List

In lieu of actually shopping I’ve been keeping track and making a list of pieces I’d like to keep an eye out for to buy:

Current-Wish-List-Shopping-Mar-2014

1. Frye 8R Engineer Boots

This would round out my shoe wardrobe as they’d be casual, and perfect with skinny jeans without my having to always wear knee-high leather boots (no matter how much I love my Frye Melissa Boots, sometimes a girl needs a change!)

2. Lanvin Ballet Flats

I am never going to know if they’re perfect if I don’t at least try them on in-person or buy them. I just can’t justify the $500 price tag right now, but I know if I buy cheap substitutes, I’ll regret it and wish I bought the Lanvins instead.

It’s just that I’m really hard on my shoes.. what if they wear out in a summer!?

That’s a LOT of money for a shoe that doesn’t last  through a summer with me.

3. Vic Matie Sandals

I really REALLY love the look of these. Again, the price tag is bananas ($600) but I don’t want to buy cheap substitutes if this is the perfect sandal. I may buy it and then return it if I hate it.

They’re also made in Italy, which is a bonus.

4. Non-Moto Style Black Leather Jacket (Veda Boss pictured, but it’s made in China)

I like the style of this Veda Boss jacket because it’s like a blazer but still a jacket (runs into the $800 range), but it’s made in China.

I say non-moto to mean that it can’t be like my Perfecto m0851 jacket that looks like this but in cognac leather and with two pockets in front.

… but it turns out that moto means biker and I absolutely don’t know WTF I am talking about when it comes to styles of jackets.

Basically I didn’t want a duplicate of my cognac Perfecto jacket — it’s really minimalist and clean. I want something a little more casual and rougher in my second jacket with more buckles, something rumpled….

Jacob-Perfecto-Tweed-Biker-Style-Jacket

It needs to have something different to it. More buckles, more biker-like, more straps, more bondage.. I DUNNO.

SOMETHING MORE.

Kind of like this leather jacket I was drooling over, but toned down and less S&M.

5. Black High-Rise Skinny Jeans (I love these ones from Rag & Bone)

I’ve been on a lookout for high-rise skinny jeans or in a jean legging in black for a while, and Rag & Bone makes the perfect pairs in the U.S.

I am also coveting a pair of WHITE High-rise Skinny Jeans.

6. Cigarette Pants like the Minnie Pant with a higher rise and not made in China

I liked the Minnie Pant but then returned it because it was made in China, AND the butt sags something fierce if you wear it for more than 2-3 hours, especially if you have a slim frame like I do (slim hips, flat butt).

I need a higher rise pant but I like the styling of the Minnie. GAH.

Sometimes I wonder if I should just start my own damn fashion label. I see so many things that I want if only they would change a feature here or there, and I can’t be the only person thinking this.

7. Cuyana Leather Tote

Super soft, made in Argentina? I’m sold. I’m looking at the black one because I don’t have a lot of black totes or bags. The red, taupe and caramel ones are pretty cute too!

I’m partial to the large tall tote rather than the short wide one.

I just wish they had a zipper, but I can always bring it in and have it put in.

I have those same boots on my wishlist but I can’t bear to buy them until the weather will be cool enough to wear them.

As for ballet flats, do you have any thoughts on Tieks? They’re actually the ad that is currently displaying for me on your site 🙂 I can’t seem to figure out where they’re made.

Hey I hear you. The weather here turned overnight from cold to HOT. *grr*

Tieks are made in China, I confirmed. *sigh* You might want to try Poppy Barley, they custom make ballet flats and the price range is about the same as Tieks I think ($150 range) and they look nice…

I am more than likely going to buy a pair from Poppy Barley and then write a review on them… ONCE I GET A JOB. 🙂

@Sara: Also this just posted, but Gia did a Tieks Foldable Flats Review if you’re interested.

I had Frye boots on my “to buy” list for next fall, but when I went to the Bay to try them on I discovered that they look AWFUL on me (size 10 feet) and they hurt so much.

I die a little every time I see them or hear them mentioned. The boots that never were :'(

That is really unusual! I and most people feel that Fryes are SO comfortable…. although I am also someone who wears Birkenstocks and those take about 2 weeks for people to get used to.

I love those boots! I was eyeing something similar but then went with boring black.

I’ve given up on expensive ballets. It used to be worth it in a city environment with strong AC in an office high rise. Where I currently live my ballet flats get beat up and thrown away quickly so I’ve been sticking to the Nine West Classica ballet flat. The cut is perfect, they mold to my feet, $25 to $60 and come in a ton of colors/materials. Not for you though since made in China. I usually shy away from MOC too but made an exception after my costly ballet flats were continually ready for the trash within a few months after moving to Maui. Love the charcoal Fryes and the worn in look. Also the tote is great, I’ve been looking at a similar shape tote by “Out of Office” made in the US,black denim and leather.

You have amazing discipline! I try not to browse online because it makes me just want to buy, buy, buy! I love the sandals, they are really cute and appropriate for work and casual. I’m gonna try and buy very little the next few months so I can shop in NYC 🙂

  • Mario Adventuresinfrugal

Uh… I’d go with the tall one? So much easier to maneuver in crowds because it doesn’t seem to swing as much…

I’m on board with the cute wedge sandals and the tote! One thing that makes me weak is leather accessories (bags, shoes, wallets, etc) and I will not let them go for the life of me! I still am using a brown Fossil leather wallet that I bought back in 2003. I really want to get a new one to change it up but it’s just soooo buttery soft! I’m also keeping my eye out for a nice pair of tan or preferably brown leather sandals with a teeny wedge. I have a long foot and like the illusion of a smaller extremity 🙂

I had a Fossil leather wallet but then I gave it up for a m0851 wallet.. it was roomier. 🙂 I stuff all my receipts in there for tracking expenses.

It is SO hard to find a good wedge sandal, I tell you. One that isn’t too high that is.

I’m going to Alberta in a few weeks and I’ve budgeted a little bit of spending money. It will be nice to pay 5% sales tax, rather than 15%! I hope to get a few deals, but I’m not looking for clothes so much as accessories. I need nice summer shoes that are comfy for work for aren’t ugly and look good with skirts, a new wallet (you don’t want to see the state my current one is in!) and a new purse (I’ve been using the same one for the past four years pretty much religiously).

Oh, and I also need a pair of black skinny jeans. My current black skinny leg pants stretch out horrendously that I swear I could walk out of them in about three steps!

5% is SO LOW. I’d go with a budget and be willing to buy everything on my list… kind of. If I could find what I wanted that is.

The problem with skinny jeans is the stretch but if you look for 97% cotton 3% spandex, you should be good.

The Banana Republic Sloane cut is similar, I believe, to the Minnie. It’s probably made in China, though. And I’m not sure about sagging. I find my problem is always behind/around the knee bagginess.

  • NZ Muse

I really need some skinny black pants. I prefer dresses and skirts but you still need pants now and then, and most of my pants are from years ago when everything was flared/boot cut. Sigh. At the moment I only have one pair of pants – dark jeans – that I feel nonfrumpy wearing to work.

Also need new swimsuit, probably some underthings, and running gear (pants/shoes) – my current setup is a bit frightful and I want to start running at lunchtime at work and at least look semi respectable while coming in and out of the office (no stained sweatpants/booty shorts, which is kind of the two options I have right now).

  • Clarisse @ Make Money Your Way

I’m planning to buy a new pair of high-rise skinny jeans because my old pairs are a bit skimpy to me because I’m gaining so much weight. I just bought an animal printed tote bag last Christmas and it’s one of my favorites.
