Collection of ‘Things’ from January 2026
favourite read
A party to murder: Diana Harper
For real. Her debut novel blew me away as a perfectly written murder mystery set in the 1920s… I devoured it in less than a day, I was so hooked.
Topic Obsession
Using thrifted items differently
What I mean by this is … instead of using a napkin holder that you thrifted, as a napkin holder, you use it as a phone holder (like I have). I like these great, and interesting ideas of how else to use what you see in a store, for a completely different purpose.
Or taking an ash tray and using it as a jewellery holder (this one is easy)… things like that!
FAVOURITE WATCH
Breaking Bad
I watched Better Call Saul first, and realized if I liked it, it means I would also like Breaking Bad which I had been avoiding for years because of the super hype surrounding it. Then I watched it.. and I must admit I lost steam after Season 4 when my favourite villain got unalived, so I powered through to the end only to know what happens … finally.
OOTD INSPO
Layering with textures
Using a very light dress as a layer, under a thicker more textured skirt is genius. I absolutely am wild for this look, from the feminine black lace, contrasting so nicely with the heavier, tweedy wool of the skirt, and a tiny bit of lace just peeking out so perfectly…. *chef’s kiss*
I think I can do this…
Full on embroidery
I mean on a jacket at least.. This one is from Perte d’ego, but I am thinking I can definitely, 100% do something like this on a blazer. Maybe a thinner one? Maybe a more jersey fabric one? I think I would like to try! This looks more like a machine did it, or they bought or made pre-embroidered flowers and then ironed them on or sewed them on…. the lines are too sharp and clean for it to be done by hand.
Kind of also loving…
My remarkable II Tablet
I bought this writing tablet a while back, as a way to replace paper instead of writing into notebooks or randomly onto things and either losing the pieces of paper, or feeling wasteful of how much I was using.
I have been using this tablet now for over a year, and instead of reaching for a pad of paper to sketch things out, I write it down and erase at will, before I do what I want to do IRL.
I use it as a checklist too, writing things down quickly, crossing them out as I go through my day, then. deleting the whole page when I am done.
I have noticed it being also quite useful for studying, as I am learning new languages, I write down words I don’t know, make notes on the side, and then review them until I no longer need to keep that word on the list.
It feels like writing on a slate, like a chalkboard slate, and is very paper-like, with a super long battery life, which is great if you are using it on the go.
If anyone is interested in a deeper review, Reddit has plenty of threads on it, but I can also write something quickly if needed…
