1. Wet/dry bags

These are endlessly useful.

I these wonderful wet/dry bags to hold toiletries (when I am traveling domestically and don’t need to fly and use see-through plastic pouches, or even if I do, I can just transfer it to a pouch and transfer it back so it is secure).

We used to use them for cloth diapering with Little Bun when we were out of the home.

I also use them to hold dirty clothes I will wash later, and I kept a few at the office when I had to do a change of clothes (spilling tea down my front for instance, or replacing my socks). Super handy.

2. Portable monitor

I have monitors that I attach to my computer and use, but they are bulky and not at all portable… I don’t have them with me, so I ended up buying a portable monitor I could attach with a USB-C so I could switch between a sitting desk setup and a standing one (or really, use it anywhere I want).

I did a deep-ish dive into monitors and came to the conclusion I needed to buy at a minimum, a 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD) monitor at least 18″ … but obviously you can go for higher quality than this if you are gaming, or if you need something bigger or smaller.

I went with this one – 4K UHD portable monitor – where I would be able to plug in a USB-C (you need to use a very high speed cable however like this one) and it runs off the power of my laptop, but if I wanted to use a power source instead, I could do a HDMI cable with a plug-in power adapter as well.

I just like the convenience of being able to run it off a USB-C cable and just plug & play to any laptop (which is what I am doing).

Why I love a portable monitor so much:

• You can plug ANYTHING into it. I even plugged my phone into it with a USB-C cable, but then I had to plug in the power adapter because the phone was too small to charge the monitor on its own.
• I can move the monitor to any place I want without having to shift it or move its bulky counterpart
• It folds up neatly (it is so slim!) and can even travel with you when you have to work while traveling, or need another screen in a café
• With a 3 metre cord, I can even put it on the floor or across the room while watching a show on it, running it off my laptop
• Instant plug and play functionality with my PC or Mac, you just go to Display settings to set up where you would put your portable monitor and your mouse moves seamlessly into the monitor

It is a serious office and travel game changer for me.

3. Book-style cable boxes

Cable boxes are usually pretty ugly. I ended up getting a book-style looking cable box and now it looks quite pleasing on my desk because it looks like a bunch of books.

It is also a great idea to be able to hide hideous cables or wifi adapters inside; anything you don’t want to look at. TRUST ME ON THIS.

Cable boxes are a SERIOUS game changer in terms of making your place look tidy without doing much.

Plus it keeps the dust out of the power adapters, and off the cables. Makes cleaning so much easier.
