Review: The Beauty Blender Makeup Sponge

Best $23 I ever spent on a makeup brush or tool was this Beauty Blender Makeup Sponge.

beauty-blender-makeup-sponge-reivew

I won’t ever apply foundation (cream or liquid) again without this sponge if I am going to a serious event or an interview.

You soak it in water, squeeze it a few times, dab it in the cream or liquid and then sponge it onto your face. It gives your foundation an airbrushed look, it stays on better (less oils from your fingers getting onto your face), and it looks INCREDIBLE.

I set it with a light dusting of powder, and I was good to go.

It lasts for the entire day, even through my sweating (literally and figuratively during my interviews), and my skin looked airbrushed.

From afar, it looked like I had perfect skin. Up close, you could see the bumps (obviously) from my pimples (hormones getting all out of whack post-baby), but when I got back home, I looked in the mirror and marveled at how great my skin looked.

MUST. BUY.

Even a stupid makeup n00b like myself, was able to apply the foundation flawlessly. No brushes or anything needed.

The only caveat is that I suggest you apply your concealer first, and then the foundation, otherwise you might have to let your skin dry a bit before applying another layer of foundation with the sponge.

Ok now I’m going to buy this! I’ve seen it reviewed on beauty blogs but thought it was just an overpriced unnecessary tool. Now that you’re saying it’s worth the money I’m definitely going to. Thanks!

I thought it was useless too, until I got it and saw a huge difference in how my makeup went on my face (liquid/cream only..)

It’s AMAZING! I bought a set of brush from Sephora and MAC for their face/foundation brushes. I got more use out of my beauty sponge than those two combined. Simply because it’s so much easier to use, and it doesn’t dry up your skin, and it definitely won’t leave the streaky mark on your face when you put BB cream/foundation on.

Another thing i love the beauty sponge, it does put some moisture back on your skin to make it so much dewy versus dry putting the foundation on.

Yes it’s 23 dollars but it’s totally worth it.

I completely agree. It doesn’t make your foundation look cakey or powdery, dries nicely, doesn’t look wet or oily and is very easy to use.

I’m working on getting my skin to be perfect though, so I don’t have to spend 10 minutes applying foundation 😐

I definitely second this. I requested it as a Christmas present one year and wasn’t disappointed at all. It’s a weird concept to think about, but it applies foundation so well!

It makes sense to me in that no oils from your fingers get on your face and it isn’t so heavy handed in one spot but not evenly spread out in another.. the sponge, being a bit damp, also makes it look more natural, less cakey/mask-y.

I have always thought that this was just another overpriced sponge, but I have heard so many good things about it now that I am seriously tempted.

Ditto. I thought: IT’s just a damn sponge… but it really works.

Go for it! You might want to buy the deal with 2 sponges in a pack and split the cost with someone.

Ooo, I’ve heard good things about the sponge, but to have an actual review is the best! Okay, now I’m sold. Glad to know it works so well!

It’s great for creams and liquid foundations. Once you get the hang of the stippling, it rocks.

I love that you do product reviews like this. I’m kind of clueless about makeup, so I really value advice from others who have tried things first. I hate wasting money on trial and error.

The Budgeting Tool

About Me

I am a wealth-obsessed, style-focused, minimalist.

I got out of $60,000 of debt in 18 months with The Budgeting Tool which I now sell online and donate its net proceeds to charity, along with The Investing Tool.

I've also authored two books: Start a Blog Like a Boss - Making $1000 USD a month & Invest your Money Like a Boss - In 4 Hours a Year.

I earn like a princess when I work but am trying hard to live like a duchess instead by not spending all of it.

The rest of the time I relax and enjoy the time off by traveling, although traveling has been on hold lately with the arrival of Little Bun, my rambunctious, ever-hungry little boy.

Welcome.
