Outfit Remix: The Minimalist Classic Button-Up
MINIMALIST OUTFIT REMIX SERIES: III
The Classic Button-Up
There is nothing simpler and more classic than a white button up shirt, some dark rinse jeans and a tote. Just swap out the accessories, add layers and you’ve got a whole new vibe just based off this one outfit.
It’s also ridiculously comfortable and minimalist. Put it on and go!
Love this?
Here’s where you can find all of my all of my Outfit Remixes.

White-Button Up Shirt
Equipment White Silk Slim Signature Shirt on Sale for $61.50* or you can go for the Ariat Kirby Shirt for $50 if your size is sold out.
Dark Rinse Jeans
My all-time favourite, highly recommended Farrah High-Rise in Brook Wash for $168. There is no better pair if jeans that flatters the most women than this one.
Brown leather tote
Madewell Transport Tote for $168Â but if you want a truly gorgeous handmade leather tote with copper rivets, I own and love my Paterson & Salisbury Large Tote for $450.
Tortoiseshell Sunglasses
I own and love these Persol Square Tortoiseshell Sunglasses for $350. If you can afford it, always buy polarized sunglasses to save your eyes. Why? This is why.
Watch
I always get a kick out of wearing my Kate Spade Metro Vachetta Watch for $195.
Flats
Bloch Elastic Ballet Flats for $129, which are on my list to buy once my flats go because I own a really run down, thrifted pair and they are REALLY good. I love the elastic back because it keeps them on my feet and are super comfortable.
*If you’re wondering how I clean my silk shirts, I buy these Dryel at-home dry cleaning kits and they work great.
OUTFIT REMIX I:
The Edgy Professor
Tweed Car Coat
Rag & Bone Ronin Tweed coat on sale here for $386 but if your size is sold out, it can be found here for $595.
I also really love this Veronica Beard version for $895 with zips up the sides.
Cashmere Scarf
A cosy cashmere pashmina will soften the whole look (and keep you toasty warm), my favourite pictured up there is of course the inimitable White & Warren Travel Scarf, $298 but you can score it on sale for $223.50 here if you aren’t picky about the colour.
Sunglasses
Ray-Ban Cockpit glasses (not polarized), but cheaper at $165Â for a classic pair of sunglasses.
I like the cockpits (I own this green and gunmetal pair, myself), because the truly classic aviator shapes like this one tend to touch my cheekbones & cause pimples.
Watch
Fossil men’s Logan watch for $80 (on sale)Â because it is a decent price (especially on sale), it fits even the tiniest of wrists (like mine, I brought this model down to the tightest fit possible on the men’s versions), and feels solid on your wrist.
I love wearing it when I want to ground my outfit.
Ring
This Windrose ring by Elizabeth & James for $95 (an Olsen twin brand, named after their siblings), is a classic piece that is interesting yet minimalist.
It even comes in a bracelet if that’s more your thing for $195.
Moto Boots
Obviously my favourite pair on the planet are these Rag & Bone Moto boots for $595. They are well worth it, and very comfortable with the perfect slouch and amount of hardware.
They’re distinctive too, I’ve never seen any other brand of moto boots with the same hardware, they always put buckles on everything.
I did a full review of the Rag & Bone Moto Boots here.
OUTFIT REMIX II::
The Bold Bohemian
Poncho
This gorgeous does double duty for being beautiful & a way to stay warm. Ponchos can look a little messy if you don’t get a hold of them and can fly off your shoulders, but a belt will fix that flyaway problem.
Sunglasses
These are a fun pair in white by Maui Jim for $229 which adds a nice light touch to the entire outfit, very St. Bart’s!
Pendant Necklace
I love my Catherine Weitzman pressed flower necklace for $140; it is a real statement piece whenever I wear it and I get a ton of compliments. I almost want to collect her entire set but I have to restrain myself.
Belt
A honeycombed textured mesh belt by Linea Pelle for $178 finishes the entire look off if you belt the poncho around your body, and then untuck the back of the poncho so it is hanging & free-flying, but the front is secured, giving you a defined waist and making it look less sloppy.
Flats
A pointed flat always adds a slightly elevated, tailored feel to any outfit. I particularly like the look of these .

I’m probably barking up the wrong tree here, but do you have any suggestions for wrinkle-resistant button-up shirt brands? Do they actually stay wrinkle free?
I travel a lot and love the way they look on me, but can’t seem to pack them or wear normal button-ups more than once or twice without wrinkles galore (even steaming in the bathroom, dryer, etc.). The wrinkles ruin the whole polished look I usually like. [Note: I don’t think I’ll ever willingly iron something unless I were going to a really formal event (and even then I don’t own an iron), and am a student so don’t have the $$ for dry cleaning/pressing stuff all the time…]
If I found a brand that was truly wrinkle-resistant, I could fork out a good $80-$100 on one or two shirts and just wear those a lot, but I’m afraid to invest that much of my money to try. Any tips for me, Sherry (or anyone)?
Thanks!!

P.S. I love all of these remix posts!! It is totally my style–the kind of stuff I’d wear every day if I could wave a wand to get dressed.
