Tales from the Back ROw
A nice lighthearted memoir on what it is like being a non-entity (?) in a fashion world, which I found very charming and interesting to read.
TOPIC obsession
Love Con Revenge
How despicable people can be to be catfishing and scamming on a wide scale. This series kicked off my rabbit hole dive into various scammers (remember Delvey? there was a series on her too called Inventing Anna), and this one where she goes and helps women who are being scammed, was so frustrating and yet empowering to watch.
FAVOURITE WATCH
Good Omens
Run, don’t walk to watch this. I am obsessed with this show. Little Bun also watched it with me and loved it. I think the storyline, the cast, everything is beyond perfection.
OOTD INSPO
Layers, colour, texture, oh my!
It seriously takes a lot of skill to be able to pair seemingly disparate items like this together and make it look cohesive. Stunning.
From the layering of the tulle skirt over the print.. wow.
Surprising Beauty Hack
Unscented cheap dry shampoo..
::drumroll please::…. IT IS CORNSTARCH!!!!
I was searching for an unscented, cheap, portable, travel-friendly solution and voilà!
Just throw it into a tiny salt and pepper shaker, shake some onto your hands, kind of smear it around your palms, then work your fingers through your hair and scalp.
Then brush brush brush (you will see white flakes come out from the cornstarch grabbing onto the oils of your hair), and before you know it, it is as if you have day-old hair rather than 2-day old hair. It is great for oily scalps like mine, perfect for in a pinch, and doesn’t leave white streaks or anything.
Best of all?
NO STINK.
NO AEROSOL.
Easy to transport and use. I am packing a tiny bit in my suitcase the next time we travel.
I cannot stand the price, the stench of perfumes and scents, and this is so stupidly easy.. I feel like an idiot for not having researched into it sooner.

More anime recommendations
I have rekindled my love for it and have been obsessed with “Spy x Family”, “Campfire Cooking with my Absurd Skill”… and Little Bun loves them too. We watch them together.
I was also recommended:
- Cells at work
- I don’t want to get hurt so I will max out my defense (to be real, their titles need work lol.)
But I am pretty happy with at least finding the two above!
BUying in bulk
More secondhand sweaters…
Why? Because I am currently obsessed with printing things on this water-soluble embroidery paper and embroidering them onto sweaters. I have made custom sayings, cute pictures.. this is a great grandma hobby to have.
I print out the lettering I want to embroider, or the image, and then spend hours doing it with embroidery floss.
I am learning so many new stitches too, it is quite diverting.
payday
a new 2% cashback credit card dropped
This WealthSimple one is actually interesting (NOT SPONSORED!!!), I happen to have an interest in it because I spend a lot on my credit cards (which I clear monthly), and I like cashback over points.
You can transfer your paycheque over to them and it waives the annual fee (check!) or have $100K in assets with them like in their chequing account which pays 1.25% – 2.25% (depending on how much $$ you have with them; which I must say, is quite generous versus the big banks), and you will get 2% cashback.
what I have been eating..
Venchi pistachio chocolate bars
Not too sweet. Creamy. Pistachio. Melt-y. Absolutely addictive
Good coat hunting
Sophie whitehouse’s camel cape poncho
It is by Stella McCartney, and comes in grey too (do not think I have not been tempted!).. I love the look of capes and ponchos, and they are easy to throw over outfits, looks chic and is very cosy. I bought it, and it is as soft and as cosy as it seems – not fit for the dead of Canadian winters – but great for wearing over a cashmere turtleneck in spring or autumn…!
More things…
Neon acrylic floating frames
These change up an otherwise predictable gallery wall. I put photos of my great-grandparents into them (antique + modern), and even framed an antique pamphlet on how to make coffee, and it looks great. It is also perfect for those pieces of paper or art that you love but is too small or not the right shape for a typical frame.
As these ones are floating, you can put anything inside and it looks fresh and modern.
More drama needed
K-Drama recommendations!
I got into Extraordinary Attorney Woo, and even with subtitles (I hate reading, I would prefer dubbed but them’s apples), and I was obsessed until the final episode. What a heart wrenching series about an autistic attorney, bringing light to the condition, and I would say, fostering a better acceptance of what it is like to be autistic.
I found some other possible k-drama series to watch on Reddit forums:
- Legend of a Female General
- Business Proposal
- Celebrity
- Hometown Cha-Cha
- Love to Hate You
- Mask Girl
- Move to Heaven
- Mr. Queen
- My Name
- Our Beloved Summer
- The Fabulous
- The Glory
- Vincenzo
