What I bought, watched and read – Pre-Winter 2018 Edition

I shopped. A good bulk of it was secondhand.

I am also slowly culling and selling off pieces from my closet and that money is funnelling the purchases of these items.

Where do I find most of these deals?

A good chunk was off:

  • The Real Real (use my referral code for a $25 credit – you have to use it within 7 days, so I’d create TWO accounts – one to browse and another to buy)

The Idea of You – Robinne Lee

I really enjoyed reading this book. It brought up two ideas — how I never want to be famous and why women as they age seem to not be as desirable. WTF?

A good chicklit read. I couldn’t stop after page… 3. It was a great book.

There are no grownups – Pamela Druckerman

A fantastic book about midlife crises… and coming of age basically. I love her thoughts, her memoirs on aging from beauty to attention to thoughts about your career and aging out of your previous life in your 20s and 30s.

I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Isabel Marant – Leece Belt

Loved it, had to have it. It sold out, but Adina did a very good DIY of it for far cheaper with a thrift store belt.

The key is to look out for a stiffer leather, and then to of course have the actual tools for cutting the leather so that it loops and fits just like so:

I have been hunting down stiff leather in stores to see if I can do something similar but I haven’t found anything that fits the bill so to speak.

MM Lafleur Boysenberry Fey Top – $70 CAD

I loved this top so much from my purchase of having it in Jungle Green – Blixen Top and Soho Skirt:

…that I had to buy it again in this gorgeous Boysenberry. It comes with the Boysenberry Waverly skirt which is like an A-Line ballet-style wrap skirt (you can kind of see it above) in the stock photo, but I have yet to see it come up for resale at a reasonable price.

Theory Dark Grey Marled V-Neck Sweater – $110 CAD

Saw this, have always wanted a v-neck marled black sweater, and this was a perfect slouchy sweater.

It can be found for cheaper online (I bought this on a whim), if you are patient and wait for your size… but I just really wanted it.

Giorgio Armani White Cashmere & Wool Blend Trousers – $125 CAD

Wool blend CASHMERE PANTS? FOR ONLY $125!?!? OMG.

It was lined in silk as well. They are high-rise on me, and they are a dream to wear. Perfect. Pockets, heavy and yet comfortable like a pair of pajamas. They cost at least $500 if not $1000 at retail…

Elie Tahari Cocoon Wool with Shibori coat – $150 CAD

I love the Shibori tie dye at the bottom which gives it another look. The shoulders are a bit cape-ish, where it cocoons across the shoulders and then the arms are tight.

It looks very COOL. I mean I wear it and I feel like it is such a cool edgy coat.

Dolce & Gabbana Dark Charcoal  Grey Peak Lapel Coat – $150 USD / $197 CAD

I bought it for $150 USD.

$150 USD.

It is still in stores, selling at this price, which is $1853 USD. O_o … Or $2443 CAD…

It’s beautiful.

Banana Republic Camel Spot Printed Heels – $70

I don’t like animal prints. Straight up am not interested.

This, is not a real animal print. It is called “Camel Spot”. Camels don’t really have spots, and it looked like a nice jaguar or leopard hybrid without being too obvious about it.

This is why I like it and it is the closest to an “animal print” I will get — something graphic that is animal-like.

Living Proof Scalp Treatment  – $32 USD

I have been using this so far and it has been helping. I wash my hair every other day, and even every other day, sometimes my scalp itches because it is dry, or for whatever reason.

This has been helping restore my scalp (which is skin after all), and for me, so far, worth the money.

MAC Mehr Lipstick – $12 CAD

A nice, pink, neutral. I love the texture of this, the slight lustre, and it feels creamy without being too glossy. It feels great on the lips.

What was your strategy for finding the D&G coat? Were you looking for it specifically or happened across it?

Happened across it. I was looking for a grey wool coat, so I searched that and then scrolled through all the options after sorting it by lowest price. A real stroke of luck.
