Week of Money: Where I lose all my tasks AGAIN because of To Do Appigo’s forced upgrade (I am switching)

DAY ONE

??:?? — Waking up, tired.

6:00 a.m. — Oh that’ll do it. 6 am? YEAH OF COURSE I AM TIRED.

7:14 a.m. — I carefully eye Little Bun up and down. Is he going to be okay, or a complete monster if I take him out on the subway this morning? I decide to chance it, he seems fine, and I tell him to get dressed and we’ll take the subway. He very excitedly goes, gets dressed 100% without ANY HELP AT ALL (Grr.. he could do it all along, he was just playin’ me)…. and we head out.

10:15 a.m. — We rode the subway for 3 hours, no joke. Transferred three times, two lines… it was serious subway time. By the time he is near the building, he needs to be carried, so I hoist this 40lb bag of baby potatoes up onto my body and walk with him back to the apartment. He says he needs a nap, but then is completely fine when he sees lunch – bread and cheese with salad.

11:03 p.m. — Overalls make me think of Super Mario. That is all. Not even farmers or anything. I see it and think – SUPER MARIO!

11:22 a.m. — I don’t know what is going on, but I completely pass out on the bed. I am zonked out, so tired, and my body pulls me into a deep sleep that I can’t even fight. Little Bun is playing around me, but drifting in and out of sleep, I hear my partner shooing Little Bun out of the room and keeping him occupied so I can nap. Thank goodness. <3

12:28 p.m. — Up from my nap, I struggle to wake up and force myself up, or else I will sleep 4 hours and not be able to sleep at night nicely.

12:50 p.m. — Oh this is a good quote. I am personally aiming for at least $2M saved/invested by the time I retire, not including my home or car.

1:11 p.m. — Little Bun goes down for his nap, fighting the whole way until I tell him that his battery is NOT CHARGED and he needs to nap because he is at 20%. He looks at me and says: NO I am at 99% BATTERY! … and I tell him no, there is no way, he has been up since 6 a.m. and we had a long morning on the subway, he needs to nap and recharge. He reluctantly puts his head on the pillow and goes down.

1:38 p.m. — Squealing. I hear squealing and screaming. I head into the bedroom, I see him crack open an eye, check to see it is me (I even had the bottle of milk ready), and then flips over, closes his eyes and goes back to sleep. That little cheeky bum just wanted to see if I had gone out or if I stayed and was still around!! I set the milk on the table to warm up in time for when he really wakes up.

3:12 p.m. — I feel groggy. I should not have slept that extra 10 minutes or whatever dozing. I should have just gotten up. Oh well. I do feel slightly better and at least at night I will sleep well.

3:20 p.m. — Little Bun is up. And before I leave the room he says — MOMMY. Butterflies are flies who like to make butter. ….. Children. Who can make up such cute things but children?

4:25 p.m. — I do all the dishes, vacuum a little, do 20 tricep dips, and then take a break and do 20 again. I really have a self-consciousness about my arms and that area around it, so I am working on it, plus cutting back on treats in my diet, going more vegan if possible….

5:37 p.m. — My partner is home. He makes a homemade olive bread (I LOVE THIS BREAD), and we just hang out and eat. I know he is tired, he has been working on the apartment all week, and I have been wrangling Little Bun out of his way so he can peacefully paint and work. But it is taking a toll, he is working on the place, sweating buckets, then has to make dinner… I’m easy though.

5:40 p.m. —I half-want to see the Thierry Mugler show but I am not paying $24 to see it. I have given myself a $200 fun budget which includes treats, eating out, whatever, and that would come out of that. I would rather save it and buy two vegan burgers.. I’d get more enjoyment out of that. If it were another designer I am really into, like McQueen I would have reconsidered.

7:37 p.m. — ARE YOU F#@$(@%ING KIDDING ME?… The ToDo App I used to love, went from version 8 to version 10 just within the hour, and I lost ALL OF MY TASKS.

I have lost ALL OF MY TASKS. ALL OF THEM.

I am furious right now. So far, I have purchased Things 3 to replace them, but have to wait until they can restore it !?!? … so I can shift everything over manually. What a FKING PAIN IN MY @SS… $15

10:20 p.m. — Bedtime. Angry.

Spent: $15

DAY TWO

6:40 a.m. — I feel like I slept “enough”… enough to make it through today without napping. I have to stop napping, this is becoming a crutch for me and if I work, I won’t be able to do this.

7:59 a.m. — Little Bun is a monster. I am hoarse from screaming. He just.. he just .. is trying me so hard right now, and I am losing my patience.

10:22 a.m. — I go off to mail a Poshmark sale (YAY!!) .. I sold a MM Lafleur Deneuve Top in Blackberry because I wear the Ivory one more often and cannot find anything to match with “Blackberry” in my wardrobe. It isn’t purple enough, or red enough, it is sort of in the middle…  +$69.66

12:08 p.m. — I wander around the grocery stores (visited 3) and finally realize the sale happening at one is too good to be true. $2.50 for organic blueberries? I buy 3 more packs. I also pick up local blueberries to see if they taste better (cheaper, but it doesn’t mean better). $15

12:56 p.m. — Home. He sweetly looks up at me, and giggles in happiness. Has he napped? Did I come back too early? .. What is going on here?..

1:25 p.m. — Ah. He hasn’t napped. He is just happy I am home and not angry at home any more after the morning we both had. I get him to go down for his nap with a promise of a treat (it is local blueberries..)

2:33 p.m. — He wakes up from his nap, and runs to me. I grab his milk. He drinks it, then runs back waving it, saying: WHERE IS MY TREAT????? .. and I feed him blueberries.

4:05 p.m. — We sit down and do math together. He is learning how to do the numbers on his own (FINALLY), but won’t try letters / alphabet yet, so I don’t push him.

4:07 p.m. — As he is doing it, he mumbles to himself: It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to be good and I have to try hard, because it doesn’t have to be perfect, Mommy will love me no matter what. ….. my heart leaps in my chest and almost breaks. He listened!!!! He has been putting SO MUCH pressure on himself to make each number perfectly written, and in desperation I said to him that he doesn’t need to put so much pressure on himself to make it perfect. He just has to try, and keep practicing and he will get there with perfect numbers, and I will love him no matter what happens.

7:25 p.m. — Dinner. He reluctantly eats his vegetable stew because he is (A) hungry and (B) bribed with blueberries to do so.

8:05 p.m. — I make my vegan noodles, add spinach and seaweed and three pinches (one pinch too many) of cayenne pepper. It is SO GOOD but a bit too spicy.. Oops.

9:11 p.m. — Bedtime for me. Not for him. Obviously.

Sold: $69.66 – Poshmark takes 20% over sales over $10 which may sound expensive but is cheaper than consignment (they take 50% – 60%). Read about Poshmark Canada here, or use code SHERRYISH for a free $15 credit.

It is easier to list than on eBay although eBay only takes 10%, they also charge you insertion fees, and all this other crap.

Spent: $15

DAY THREE

??:?? — Bathroom run.

??:?? — Nosebleed.

??:?? — Tired. This feels like 5 a.m. It is also raining outside, my head is pounding — I am extremely sensitive to pressures in the environment and if it rains or is about to, I get a massive headache… I am going to try and avoid taking the nausea pills I have prescribed for this.

6:44 a.m. — LIES. THE CLOCK TELLS LIES. How can it be almost 7!?!? I must not have slept enough. Oh yeah… I was woken up twice last night, that’ll do it.

7:16 a.m. — My whole body aches. I was doing squats while watching videos and did not count them, but went until my legs threatened to give out (I did about 40 at least)… I also then pushed myself to do tricep pushups in the chair while watching videos, then Commando pushups (you are down on both elbows in a plank position, and then you push yourself up, one arm at a time, alternating sides), as well as modified pushups until my arms gave out.

7:20 a.m. — I make tea. I realize there is no milk. I quickly gulp it down anyway because I love matcha but love it more mixed into milk as a latte.

8:12 a.m. — I organize ALL of my clothes I am selling into piles, so that I can reach for a bag and know all the tops are there, all the bottoms in another, etc, as I need to measure / pack each piece for sale on Poshmark. It makes me think of this — If your dress costs less than your coffee, someone else is paying the price for it.

8:40 a.m. — My partner squawks at the $1900 bill from last month for household equipment. He asks for a detailed listing because I mixed in there stuff I bought for my mother like the Dyson vacuum and so on. But that was only $350 or so, the rest of it was pretty much ALL HIM. I smugly fill in the spreadsheet that I have been using for a decade (it’s The Budgeting Tool), and email it off.

9:02 a.m. — My partner has headed out on errands – he is repainting the ENTIRE APARTMENT, to make it look like new again.

9:15 a.m. — Oops, made a mistake in the spreadsheet of expenses. I fix it and re-email the new sheet.

10:59 a.m. — Little Bun makes me play a Learning Game with him where we name 5 things we like about each season, each day, and each month. My brain is struggling to come up with 5 cool things, being sleep-deprived.

11:52 a.m. — I head out for the afternoon for a break. I love my outfit today. It is a bit cool so I had to wear my duster (AND LOVE IT!)

12:30 p.m. — In a dressing room, I end up ripping the side seam of my vintage dress by not being careful, and internally sigh.

1:22 p.m. — I am about to buy the jeans in my hands (let’s face it I wanted it all), but then steel my resolve and put it all back.

2:12 p.m. — I want to buy a Starbucks treat, but did not bring my reusable mug, so I leave empty-handed. I am doing so good today!!!!

3:08 p.m. — Home.

4:16 p.m. —We play games, talk about bears and bees making honey, he does some math (he insists on writing the numbers now on his own, FINALLY), and I go through and transfer all my tasks from my original To Do app to my new Things 3 app.

6:20 p.m. — I feed him and myself dinner, we polish off two boxes of blueberries.

9:44 p.m. — Time for bed.

Spent: $0

DAY FOUR

??:?? — Tired. We had two bathroom runs last night.

6:40 a.m. — Yawning, I put away the dishes drying on the counter (no dishwasher!) and then make a cup of tea.

10:10 a.m. — I spend the morning tailoring a dress to tuck and nip it in a bit to fit better, and my vintage dress I ripped the seam of the other day.

10:10 a.m. — I quickly head out to withdraw some money from an account. My godfather has decided to give a chunk of his money (equals out to $200 CAD) to Little Bun yearly for his education. I am carefully taking the money out each year ($200 is $200 and a VERY kind gesture from someone), and will put it towards his education for sure. Little Bun also just hit the $30,000 net worth mark, which is nice.

11:05 a.m. — Hmm. I can get $300 as a bonus if I sign up for a chequing account? Catch please.  Ah. I have to keep a $4K balance to not pay $16 in fees, plus pay one bill of $50, plus set up a pre-authorized debit of $50. I do some quick math at the counter, giving a sharp eye to the teller who suggested it, and decide it is worth the hassle to make net $250 in my pocket. I am budgeting an interest-earning loss of about $50 in total if I deposit $4000-ish into this account to waive the fees, before I cancel / shut down the account after I make my money. The teller knows what I am up to, and I don’t care.

11:50 p.m. — Home. I eat lunch. And this made me feel better after Little Bun being a brat for a few days:

1:11 p.m. — I eye Little Bun and sternly tell him to go down for his nap or the bees won’t come back. LIES, but I am desperate.

1:36 p.m. — I go through my closet, and grit my teeth. I will return those two J. Crew blazers I bought in Toronto during the summer because they are slightly too tight, and THEY DID NOT TELL ME that in-store returns were free. They used to NEVER accept in-store returns, and I always dreaded the $25 fee to ship them back. Now, it costs $25 to ship them back anyway as I am in Montreal stranded without a J. Crew store, but it irks me that I could have returned them in Toronto for free and avoided all of this BS. Whatever. At least I am getting money back, about $184 for blazers that don’t QUITE fit (what is up with their sizing?)

1:44 p.m. —I check on my baby to make sure he IS napping. AND HE IS NOT. So I sit with him, and side eye him until he closes his eyes and goes down into slumber.

2:25 p.m. — I finish packing up those J. Crew blazers.

2:39 p.m. — I finish making a foccacia dough. I have been thinking about trying this for a while, and don’t have rosemary, but will just have it with salt. Next time, maybe I can try a cracked baked egg on top… with rosemary, once I buy some.

3:11 p.m. — It starts to storm. I knew I felt like crap for a reason.. it was so sunny but now it is rainy and crappy. Oh well, focaccia to look forward to!

3:16 p.m. — Little Bun is up. I give him milk after he goes to the bathroom and then in about 15 minutes, will be making foccacia.

3:25 p.m. — I do lunges in the apartment, and Little Bun counts them as I step forward. Each time I stop, he says sweetly: Mommy! Let’s do MORE! …. he would be a perfect personal trainer.. I end up doing 100 due to his encouragement and my thighs are on FYAH.

4:38 p.m. — I am in pain. I can’t even sit down without aching. Ow. ……..

4:55 p.m. — Wow. 6 months for Michelle Obama’s Book? I’ll wait.. I have so many other books to read but..

4:50 p.m. — Okay. Mini #UpCycling Story — I had an Erdem dress I bought secondhand in a size 4, that looked JUST like the other one I owned, but in a more spring-summery blue autumnal floral print. The problem is the owner DEFINITELY had it taken in to be a size 2 or smaller because I could squeeze into the skirt but the back was a good 2″ apart zipper-wise. I own the other autumn floral print in a size four below:

Anyway, I had it chopped up and made into a skirt, but was left with a super cropped top that I still really liked the look of, so I decided to keep it and wear it as a shrug, sewing a little leather piece at the back to hold it on my body while it is on, so that when I bend over, etc, it won’t slide off:

See how wide the back is? That is how much that person had it taken in from a size 4, to at least a size 0!!!!

I tried it the other day on a dress that I was not happy about because it had skinny spaghetti straps, and now this is to me, the PERFECT dress!!!

6:22 p.m. — I feed Little Bun dinner, then a dessert of blueberries.

9:46 p.m. — Time for bed.

Spent: $0

DAY FIVE

7:16 a.m. — We leave to take my partner to get his blood drawn because he has a problem in his joints. He also tends to faint at the sight of blood (genetic issue, his whole family except his mother faints at blood), so I am in the car with Little Bun in case he does faint and I have to drive us home.

8:09 a.m. — Blood done. But we end up missing THREE exits because they are ALL closed due to construction, and go on a wild, annoying goose chase while it rains. Great. I feel myself getting nauseous in the car.. rain doesn’t help my motion sickness.

8:48 a.m. — We are finally home after all of this nonsense running around, trying to find an exit to come back onto the highway.

9:20 a.m. — We all eat a meal – I have this mushroom ragout thing he made with rice, and Little Bun opts for pasta, cheese and half a basil plant. LOL

10:50 a.m. — I head out and mail a jacket to my friend (she is going to look amazing in it). $14.43

12:08 p.m. — I go back and condense all of my posts into an Instagram hashtag #savespendsplurgemoney if you’re interested. If you’re also interested in a $10 USD book condensing all of this info into sections, etc — I’d put more than just what’s there of course, as notes, but … let me know. I am up for a project.

https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/savespendsplurgemoney/

12:58 p.m. — I pick up a internet password book. I would have tried to buy it secondhand, or use one of my existing old notebooks but I wanted a very specific format of it having alphabetical tags, just a line for “Website” and “Password”. I could have used Address books for this but they have a lot of extra info I did not really need or want to see… I ended up finding this plain, small, not too large or too small book. I plan on filling it in, and then storing it in the safe. Just in case all my electronic forms fail, I have this as my backup, especially after losing all of my tasks today — those I can live without, but PASSWORDS? No way…. $12.86

https://amzn.to/2KvfFpD

https://amzn.to/2KvfFpD

What makes this one stand out from the rest is that it has MULTIPLE LINES for changed passwords. FINALLY. *face palm*.. the rest are cute, basically the same sort of style, but useless without these extra lines or spaces.

https://amzn.to/2KvfFpD

I also don’t write my passwords in full. I write them with a cryptic note that only I know, and it is the key to a longer password that is currently not stored anywhere or relevant to anyone – I need to find another notebook as the key to this so in case of my untimely passing and/or reduced mental capabilities, people can log in easily. Sort of a “When I die” guide book. That is on my list to do as well.

1:20 p.m. — Home. Little Bun JUST went down for his nap, I can hear him talking to his father in his cute little boy voice in the bedroom.

2:25 p.m. — I watch the final episodes of Elementary, I know the show is ending… and so far, a satisfying end!

3:27 p.m. — I make notes about the space in my closet. I want to go to thrift stores and look for boxes that will fit in those areas to organize my closet and make it neat and tidy. I am getting sick of it being a hodge podge, and I am planning on doing a rehaul in September once Little Bun is in school and I have long days, empty, able to clean out and redo my closet with my thoughts and no little boy running around me.

4:03 p.m. — Little Bun wakes up! He wanders around the apartment then excitedly says: MOMMY! COME! I have something I want to show you. I found THREE beetles!

4:04 p.m. — I head over to where he is pointing and I see 3 bees. I correct him, and say they are bees, not beetles… and then he says — Look, one is not moving. … and sure enough it looks like 2 of them are licking? touching? helping? the third bee who is completely still, not flapping or moving, and they’re working furiously. I don’t want to open the door and look at them closely because I want them to work peacefully and not be scared. So, I try to guess with Little Bun what is going on.

4:06 p.m. — “Mommy the big bee isn’t moving“… and I look at him, and say gently it might be dead. He processes the info, and then says: Mommy, it’s dead! .. and I tell him it MIGHT be dead, we will see in about half an hour, because why would two bees help a dead bee? I have no idea how bees work. Maybe the third bee died protecting the other two.

4:36 p.m. —  “MOMMY IT IS MOVING! I SAW THE DEAD BEE MOVE! And the baby bee left!” … I wonder if it is the wind. I go and check, and sit patiently with him watching this bee (there was a smaller bee, the Baby obviously, a medium-sized one, the Mommy and the one that wasn’t moving, the Daddy). And sure enough, the Daddy Bee starts moving, cleans itself, and flies off.

4:59 p.m. — Little Bun is beyond himself with what just happened. He followed through a whole story of the 3 bees we made up. I also mention that this balcony is a safe place like a bee hospital for insects, especially bees who are crucial to our food network, and I point out that bees like YELLOW flowers like the ones below, and we should never hurt our bee friends. He parrots back all this info to me, and then demands that MORE bees come and visit our bee hospital. LOL

5:10 p.m. — Bee hospital. He is set on more bees coming to hang out on the balcony to get better so he can watch them. I tell him to send out good vibes and if he is a kind, generous, loving little boy, bees will feel safe to come and hang on the balcony if they know we won’t hurt them. He nods and plants his face at the door, waiting to see more bees come to his hospital.

6:44 p.m. — I do all the dishes, then we do math together. He is now insisting on writing the numbers himself, so I am letting him do it, with little guidance and VERY RELIEVED I no longer have to write out everything for him. Only the sentence stuff.

7:16 p.m. — I beast eat Tomato Pretz in my closet as I am eying how I am going to re-organize and declutter this place. See, the thing is I have bags full of packaging, you know, little bags, tissue paper, mailers, etc. I AM reselling my closet, so I need to keep this packaging in the meantime, but it is taking up at least two bags worth of space.

9:30 p.m. — Bedtime.

Spent: $12.86

DAY SIX

??:?? — I wake up to Little Bun in my face saying: Meh meh?? … he wants milk.

6:40 a.m. — I make tea, then do math with him, and head off to Ikea to browse. I am looking very specifically for boxes that can be put on their side, so I can create a mini shelving system to optimize space. I spend the morning measuring the closet.

9:19 a.m. — At Ikea, I have their breakfast, and then vow to never eat it again because I am not loving it. I am really not used to this kind of food any more, and the eggs are tasteless, only the sausage was good because it was salty and reminded me of McDonald’s breakfasts’ I used to eat as a kid. At least the price is good. I should come back for their lunch one day, and see if I swear off that too. $3.16

10:28 a.m. — I love how beautiful these closets look.

10:31 a.m. — I find what I am looking for – 4 boxes that have little handles and labels, and two shelving cubbies that aren’t too heavy, that can create a makeshift shelving unit of sorts. I would try and find this secondhand and thrifted, but I am so specific in what I want, plus in the quantity I want, that I have no hopes that I ever would. Plus I want them to be spotless and thrifted stuff unless it is wood or plastic (neither of which I want), can be hard to clean if it is cardboard or fabric (what I am looking for)…. $45.16

10:45 a.m. — I sort of want to buy one Monstera leaf decoration..just so I can have this plant even in plastic form but I resist.

10:58 a.m. — Also, I think I may have found my straw purse for the summer! LOL … Okay, no. I am too picky, I want it to be a perfect size, colour, style…

11:03 a.m. — Home. Little Bun greets me at the door and blurts out that he was very naughty this morning to Daddy and he doesn’t want to be naughty like that any more. He is ratting on HIMSELF! … I hope this streak of honesty lasts throughout his years LOL ….

12:16 p.m. — Lunchtime. I feed him soup, with blueberries as dessert, and then he makes me promise to wait until he wakes up from his nap before I make my green smoothie. He also informs me he does not enjoy my smoothie creations because it doesn’t have bubbles in it (my partner makes it pure fruit, no nuts or vegetables, so the fruit sort of foams up into bubbles). He only wants BUBBLE smoothies made by Daddy.

2:02 p.m. — Wow, he is NOT going down for his nap. I think we are getting close to where he finally no longer needs it. He isn’t grumpy in the afternoon and he is sleeping pretty well at night. I am going to monitor this for a while more.

3:16 p.m. — I take a shower and use the packaging-plastic-free shampoo I bought at La Mistinguette in Montreal, and I am extremely surprised and pleased. The shampoo took a little more work than liquid shampoo (obviously) to lather up (I have soft water so it went fine), but I got enough lather to properly massage my scalp with the shampoo. It all rinsed very clean, and felt clean, with no oil. I am HOOKED. I will be back.

3:40 p.m. — He broke us. He basically wiggled around and didn’t want to nap. So … he isn’t napping but I know he will go down early tonight.

4:20 p.m. — We eat dinner, and then I take him out on a woodland walk.

6:15 p.m. — F%*ING CHAOS. He didn’t want to share this disgusting piece of leftover blue chalk, and lost his mind when a little girl took it to play with it too. I try and tell him I’ll buy him a set of chalks tomorrow, but he is just kicking, screaming, losing it. I just get my stuff, and leave the park, with him screaming around my ankles.

6:18 p.m. — He drags me back, I sit him down to talk to him. He loses his #%(#*% again… and I get up to leave AGAIN.

6:47 p.m. — Wash rinse and repeat. Finally, after a lot of kicking, screaming and crying to go back to the park, he accepts his fate, and we walk home. We sit on the stoop of a house for him to calm down, and a stranger even gets involved to tell him that he has to calm down or else his Mommy can’t hear him. HE LISTENS TO HER. GRRR….. I am not mad at her, I am happy she stepped in to help me, because I was about to lose it. He was crying and screaming, clinging to my legs, and I was about to lose it. I think she saw how tired I was.

6:58 p.m. — More stoop-sitting, watching buses go by, and calming down. I tell him we can either pout all the way home and stay angry, or we can become explorers and make the most of it. He seems to choose the latter, and we arrive home in a good mood, having seen an ant colony, and run through a sprinkler.

7:35 p.m. — Little Bun knocks off early. As predicted. At least he isn’t sleeping at 5, this means we can cut out the nap if he doesn’t need it, and he will sleep at a reasonable hour.

Spent: $3.16

DAY SEVEN

6:00 a.m. — He had no nap yesterday, so he is up EARLY… I get his milk, he is rubbing his eyes, a bit whiny… he will need a nap today for sure. I make a tea.

6:44 a.m. — I take a shower.

7:59 a.m. — He annoys the #%(@@ out of me by asking for the TENTH TIME for some sidewalk chalk. OMG. I already said patiently and sweetly that I would buy it for him when I went out today, and he refused to listen. I lose my @#$@@ and tell him through clenched teeth that I WILL BUY IT TODAY. I TOLD YOU I WOULD. NOW STOP ASKING.

9:37 a.m. — I give him TWO big bowls of pasta, cheese and basil to eat while I curl my hair. I love this Dyson Airwrap styler… It looks like this even a day after I have my hair curled, it is amazing.

10:15 a.m. — I head out and decide to buy some fish to bring home and eat with rice… $11.15

11:37 a.m. — Lunch.

1:38 p.m. — Little Bun nap time. He NEEDS it.

2:41 p.m. — Little Bun “meh-meh’s” me, and I run in to him with a bottle of milk. He drinks it, and then it is too quiet, so I head in and check on him, only to find the bottle still in his mouth, and he is completely conked out. I get nostalgic. Just like when he was a baby, he would feed to sleep… I guess he “meh-meh’ed” to make sure I was still at home, and then satisfied to see my face, he went back to sleep.

3:00 p.m. — Okay he is awake now.

3:40 p.m. — I do the dishes, feed him some strawberries and then we head out on a woodland walk, and go to the park.

4:17 p.m. — He plays like crazy. He is sliding and climbing this rock mountain wall, and then we play soccer, and then cool off in the water feature. He is completely drenched after 3 hours of playing and super tired when we walk home.

7:00 p.m. — Home, he starts sniffling and feeling cold. I take him into the shower to wash off, and he has a slight fever at night. I didn’t plan on the water feature but in hindsight I should not have let him there, as he was cold on the way back. I’ll pack a towel and longer shirts and pants next time.

7:28 p.m. — He eats his soup without complaint, and I feed him a HUGE bowl of blueberries (4 handfuls).

7:55 p.m. — I clean up again, feed myself a light dinner, eat blueberries as well, and then he runs off and plays on his own while I try and decipher this cryptic Land Assessment notice about my taxes for next year. In FRENCH no less. I give it to my partner and he can’t figure it out either.

9:12 p.m. — Time for bed.

Spent: $11.15
