Week of Money: Where I clean out the closet again and organize it all

DAY ONE

??:?? — I wake up with Little Bun sprawled out on top of my legs.

7:59 a.m. — HAHAHAH.. I saw this and this is exactly how I feel about working and money.

8:38 a.m. — I tackle the second bedroom of things and start just donating items and separating out the stuff I think I can resell. Little Bun helps me because he enjoys sorting and organizing as well.

12:08 p.m. — Lunch break. I dump out all the shoes to do later:

1:15 p.m. — Little Bun is down for his nap/rest time, and I go and lie down to rest as well and read a book

4:15 p.m. — Up from his nap, we start doing bags of things to donate.

5:50 p.m. — End of the day count. This is what we ended up with. Now for a dinner break.

5:50 p.m. — I feel pretty good, and haul the bags to donate out to the hallway to take out when I leave.

7:23 p.m. — We lie down, play some Two Dots, and then read (he loves his How to be a Math Genius book), and then it is bedtime.

Spent: $0

DAY TWO

??:?? — I wake up from Little Bun cuddling into my back. I turn around gently and snuggle/kiss him, which makes him squeal like a baby (he has his own baby noises he makes).

6:30 a.m. — I log in, start working and end up on calls. We work across a bunch of time zones, so I am always on a call early in the morning.

7:59 a.m. — I pick up this Susie Yi comic book called Cat & Cat Adventures: The Quest for Snacks because she is an EXCELLENT artist and storyteller. Little Bun will love this book.

8:08 a.m. — The whole morning is a blur of calls. My friend tries to call me to chat (she’s off for the week) but while I can usually chat, I am SWAMPED until noon back to back.

12:08 p.m. — I am done my call. I scarf down a lunch with Little Bun beside me eating 1/3 of it (he’s taken to sharing our lunches and dinners, along with eating his own as well), and I shovel broccoli and brown rice into his mouth as he makes yummy noises.

12:28 p.m. — I clean out my desk drawer while watching Tidying Up with Marie Kondo and I organize my cables with tinier boxes, which was a revelation for me (I used to throw all the cables in there and it drove me mad when they all tangled together, even if I put them in cord tacos. I use these pretty pink Poppin Softie trays.

12:56 p.m. — Back to work and on calls.

5:46 p.m. — I log off for the day, and go to have dinner with Little Bun.

6:45 p.m. — I do all the dishes, laundry, and try to clean up my desk again – I feel like I do not need all of these papers.

7:31 p.m. — We continue designing our home, we are changing a few things here and there, and Little Bun sits on my lap as he helps me move things around, reorganize and so on.

Spent: $0

DAY THREE

??:?? — I wake up again with him snuggling into my back.

6:20 a.m. — I log in and work, I beg for 10 minutes before going on a call.

12:05 p.m. — Lunch break. I actually do not have time for lunch and eat while on a call. I will take a break after my calls end.

12:05 p.m. —Little Bun finishes all of his pages and announces he is out of English and Science Grade 3 pages, so we move onto the next book to help supplement. He has to do 8 pages a day across all the different subjects, and when subjects are deep or interesting, like on the First Peoples, we spend 45 minutes or more, talking about them, researching upon them, and so on. Learning spontaneously in the moment.

2:15 p.m. — I take a break after my calls and have a stuffed cookie. This icing covered one was way too sweet. I should avoid all icing covered cookies, I always find them too sweet.

3:01 p.m. — Up from his nap, I am on a call so I shush him. He runs off with the iPad (he finally gets it after he is done his pages, and if it isn’t too early).

3:23 p.m. — He and his father go to watch “action movies” together in the bedroom, giving me quiet time to work and peace of mind.

5:11 p.m. —Dinner time, we harvest basil, he eats it with the stew.

6:40 p.m. — Time for dishes, laundry, vacuuming.

7:10 p.m. — We work more on the home plans, my partner goes around measuring everything, and I am getting grumpy because my Cloffice (Closet + Office) is getting smaller. I am going to end up losing my reading nook. I will need another spot for this, or something, if I want enough space for my clothes and things that is.

Spent: $0

DAY FOUR

??:?? — It is too early. I tell him to go back to sleep.

6:20 a.m. — What is with children and waking up so darn early!?

6:46 a.m. — We take a Climate Hero test

We did okay. Not as great, but this will change if we can get out of the city.

8:08 a.m. — Calls.

9:34 a.m. — While I am on calls sometimes I browse, and I see this and am not surprised but I am rolling my eyes. This guy is “Broke Bobby” because he makes $125K a year versus his $5M/year friends.

This list came out from a bunch of guys who list their salary, their time off, their expected bonuses, their plans for vacations and what they will spend on so they can plan vacations together or whatever. Honestly, this is probably more of what we call a penis-measuring yardstick to see who is on top as an alpha male versus the rest.

11:58 a.m. — Lunch! We ended a few minutes early so.. yay!

12:28 p.m. — Time for another call. When we are unable to do meetings during the day, they do them during lunch.

5:56 p.m. — I log off for the day. Wow, it was serious. The time flew by.

7:14 p.m. — Little Bun makes crafts for me. He loves rainbows and hearts, so he is always making me heart pictures or rainbow things:

8:45 p.m. — We read books, then lie down and chat before bedtime. We talk in the dark for at least half an hour.

Spent: $0

DAY FIVE

??:?? — Little Bun and I snuggle together.

6:00 a.m. — I log in and work. I take a break (no early calls yet, not even people are up at 6), and then try to get documents done before I leave.

7:59 a.m. — We check on the basil plants. Little Bun talks to them, pets them gently with a finger, and sometimes sings to them.

9:45 a.m. — I am making a cup of tea while on a call.

12:08 p.m. — Lunch time.

12:28 p.m. — I take a break to hang with Little Bun, and then back to my call as he goes down for his nap.

1:15 p.m. — More calls.

4:56 p.m. — I log off for the day, and Little Bun and I clean, organize, etc.

7:30 p.m. — Little Bun tells me: I HAVE A PRESENT / SURPRISE FOR YOU!.. and I open this and then start laughing because it’s .. such a thing I would have never done to my mother.

He was particularly proud of this one because I killed the fly, but then couldn’t locate it. He managed to find it, and created a little coffin for it to proudly showcase my kill, as we had been hunting this annoying fly for at least a day in the home, and I whacked it but then.. it flew off and I gave up looking for it.

8:46 p.m. — Time for bed. Brushing, reading, then bed.

Spent: $0

DAY SIX

??:?? — More Little Bun snuggling.

6:00 a.m. — Ooo.. this office looks so cool. A loft office, I like the black frame and everything. I just don’t like people looking at me working inside. This is an office I’d have if I lived alone.

7:09 a.m. — Calls start. Later than usual, it’s near the end of the week.

12:08 p.m. — Lunch break – I am always a few minutes late for actual lunch because my calls always go over.

12:28 p.m. — Back to work.

3:20 p.m. — FREEEEEE!!!!! I log off early this time.

4:25 p.m. — Oh this is a cute look. I need to start belting these dusters I have.

5:27 p.m. — I clean up the second bedroom, toss things (why do I have empty wrappers hanging around).. and then realize I haven’t seen rings I bought in a long time, and wonder where they went…

6:30 p.m. — I turn my bathroom upside down and I still cannot find my jewellery. I wonder where it all went. It must be in the closet, Little Bun may have snagged these pretty rings, like the mini magpie he is, and squirreled them away into his treasure chest.

8:44 p.m. — Time for bed, after dinner, brushing and life.

Spent: $0

DAY SEVEN

??:?? — I kiss Little Bun.

6:00 a.m. — Even on weekends we wake up early.

8:12 a.m. — I make a list of things to do today, but mostly, I want to read my books and chill if I can. Little Bun’s weakness is Paw Patrol, and I wish I could get more episodes.

10:59 a.m. — I head out and I pick up a circle template for Little Bun because his circles are always so wonky, and they sort of drive me mad. Also, people cannot draw circles neatly, so this will help a lot. $11.29

11:08 a.m. — Lunch time. Early this time, and Little Bun eats his lunch, then hovers around us and eats our lunches too. He likes trying different foods, and I don’t tailor it to him – I add a little spice (smoked paprika) and he sucks in his breath a few times as it is slightly spicy (I don’t even taste it, but he does).

11:50 a.m. — We hang out on the bed and read books, play Two Dots and hang out.

1:15 p.m. — He’s down for his nap, so I settle into my book. I am really savouring and enjoying the work of Carlos Ruiz Zafon – I am reading his Cemetary series right now. His writing is fantastic.

3:30 p.m. — He’s up from his nap, and we do arts and crafts together, colour, draw, then I take another break as his father watches action movies with him.

6:17 p.m. — The Stuffies go and play in the “Snuggle Center” we created with the blankets and the soft areas, to let them snuggle together with the 3 new sock babies (yes.. all things are babies now), and they watch movies together and tell stories.

8:41 p.m. — Time for bed.

Spent: $11.29
