Week of Money: Home sweet home..

DAY ONE

4:01 a.m. — Jet lag. We are all up early. Little Bun is super chirpy and full of sunshine. At 4 a.m. I’m just.. tired. It looks dark outside. I tried to sleep more but couldn’t.

5:15 a.m. — We eat a breakfast of bread and cheese.

6:15 a.m. — Bye bye Daddy. I’m staying home with Little Bun 3 days a week for the next little while to get work done. I get bothered too much in the office so this is the only way to get work finished.

10:08 a.m. — Lunch is two eggs, a full avocado and bread for Little Bun. I am still hungry.

10:44 p.m. — I fill my medication for anti-nausea pills. $7.38

11:10 a.m. — I pick up sushi, little tiny beignets (doughnuts), a chai latte and a croissant for Little Bun. $21.56

12:00 p.m. — Time for a nap. I don’t take one, but Little Bun needs it. He just burst into tears because I told him there was no milk. That we had to wait until the milk truck comes on Tuesdays because we only buy milk in glass bottles and they’re all out.

2:20 p.m. — Up from his nap, I take him out to return about $1000 worth of Banana Republic stuff (Style Shopper reviews coming up), and Anthropologie items. I pick up this cute Maeve Claremont Midi Pleated skirt with the credit I get from Anthropologie. – $1489.22

4:38 p.m. — I got too sidetracked with shopping so we head home.

6:25 p.m. — Dinner! Little Bun gets a huge bottle of milk and he is so happy it isn’t funny.

7:40 p.m. — Bedtime. I am working on getting his bedtime to stick at 8 a.m. SHARP so that he has a sleep circadian rhythm to wake up for 6 a.m., and still gets lots of sleep…..and jet lag is the perfect excuse to fix all of this sleep trouble I have been having with him.

8:00 p.m. — Sleep.

Spent: $28.94

Returns: $1489.22

DAY TWO

5:05 a.m. — I feel like we are making progress. At least it isn’t 4 a.m.

5:25 a.m. — My partner brought home milk yesterday so I make a beloved cup of matcha. OMG YES. Little Bun also squeals happily when he sees milk to drink.

7:15 a.m. — I’m already logged in and working.

10:33 a.m. — I sell four language books to an eager guy who really wanted them for his kid? + $25

10:56 a.m. — I sell a pair of Lululemon leggings. + $85

11:20 a.m. — This is working out to be a GREAT $$$$ Day. I get a $362.77 USD payment from an ad network which is $476.39 CAD. If you want to know how I started this blog just a few years ago and now make about $1000 USD a month, you can read my book – Start a blog like a boss: How to make money. +$476.39

1:08 p.m. — Little Bun finally goes down for his nap after protesting. I tried to force him at noon but he ran out at 12:16 claiming he “felt fine and was very NOT grumpy, Mommy” LIES.

2:34 p.m. — Still sleeping. Yep. KNEW IT. Children are liars. I still need to go out and pick up some cold medication….

2:40 p.m. — I hear Little Bun squeal and I run to him. He woke up crying, and I hug him tight, then give him some milk. Poor baby.

4:03 p.m. — I take him out after I finish work, and we pick up some cold pills and mail off some items. $19.53

7:15 p.m. — Dinner. We eat a light dinner of bread and cheese, and Little Bun reminds me that I promised I’d try and make sushi tomorrow. Oh yeah. 😛

7:30 p.m. — We get ready for bed and read a few books. I’m being very strict on bedtimes now, 8 p.m. BEDTIME so he gets enough sleep.

Earned: $586.39

Spent: $19.53

DAY THREE

7:00 a.m. — I head into work. I don’t want to go, frankly.

11:59 a.m. — I knew it. Non-stop work. I don’t even get a break for lunch. I book my dentist appointment though, my teeth are a mess. Frankly, I have not been good at cleaning them and they need a deep clean.

4:38 p.m. — I even leave LATE. I am definitely cutting off from work early tomorrow. Or Friday. And I’ll go get a pedicure or something.

6:48 p.m. — Dinner time. We eat some pizza (Little Bun loves), and he tells me he is still hungry, so I feed him a banana, and then he gets yoghurt as well. Little eating machine!

7:28 p.m. — Time to get ready for bed.

Spent: $0

DAY FOUR

6:32 a.m. — Nice! I think Little Bun is back on track. I’m super tired though…. my cold is not helping. I log in after eating breakfast and having a tea.

8:59 a.m. — Non stop work.

9:30 a.m. — I take a break, do all the dishes and head out to the grocery store with Little Bun. I prefer working from home because I can set my own hours to do things I need to get done!

11:15 a.m. — I take Little Bun out and we pick up some ingredients for the vegan sushi I hoped to make today. $11.23

12:02 p.m. — We get back late and I HUSTLE to get the rice cooked and everything done. OMG. I do not want to screw up his nap.

12:44 p.m. — Little Bun finally goes down for his nap after eating. I rushed, and he ended up not liking my vegan sushi recreation, and I give him some bread with avocado.

3:00 p.m. — I hop on a call and it is just…. a mess. Everyone is in a tizzy, no one knows how to work on a project. *shrug* I’m just a monkey consultant, who am I to say anything? I already said lots of stuff at the start of the project that had to be done and no one listened or had a fire lit under their #%* so to speak.

4:50 p.m. — Off the call, I schedule my budget posts. I’m officially a THREE-QUARTERS MILLIONAIRE NOW! My net worth hit $750,000 last month….. 😀

6:30 p.m. — Also.. I just realized my net worth jumped by $100K in 2 months. O_o

7:11 p.m. — We start getting ready for bed. I’m trying to be strict on the 8 p.m. bedtime.

7:25 p.m. — Three books later, sleep.

Spent: $11.23

DAY FIVE

6:00 a.m. — I drag my bum out of bed. Time to go to work.

7:59 a.m. — At work, nonstop. NON STOP. I work through lunch (yes eating my lunch at my desk too), and when it ticks down for the time for me to go to my pedicure, I bolt.

3:08 p.m. — I leave and make it to my pedicure just in time. Phew. She really did a number on my feet and helped clean it up properly. Plus, this is a nice break for me, and better than getting fat off cake or something. $77.26

4:26 p.m. — I pick up some things at a local store, I have some style outfit ideas I want to try but I didn’t have the right items. If the outfits work out, I shall post & explain what I did. $66.37

5:45 p.m. — Traffic was RIDICULOUS. WTF HAPPENED?…. I get home, toting a huge armful of packages and letters, and Little Bun is already scarfing down his dinner. I eat mine, and make a list of things to get done this week.

7:15 p.m. — Time to get ready for bed.

Spent: $143.63

DAY SIX

6:00 a.m. — We get ready to go out and go to the farm to pick tomatoes. I didn’t find out we were doing this until THIS DANG MORNING. So I rush on doing the dishes, wiping them down, getting the bag prepped for a farm day (rainboots, spare clothes, the whole thing), and silently curse that no one told me this yesterday (and by NO ONE I MEAN MY PARTNER)…. so that I could do this ahead of time and not rush.

7:59 a.m. — No large red tomatoes apparently. The weather with the heat wave really threw everything off. We end up picking mini tomatoes instead (yummmmm!!) and pay only $9 for a HUGE crate of them that cost $36 if you bought them at the farm’s stand already pre-picked, and if you went to a grocery store, it would be at least $90, if we are talking for $5 per pint or something (these were mini heirlooms).

8:08 a.m. — Little Bun LOVES picking mini tomatoes. He goes around looking for the most yellow and orange ones and tries his best. <3

10:08 a.m. — We break for lunch. My partner packed bread and cheese, so we have a good lunch, and end up meeting some former neighbours (what a coincidence!)..

10:25 a.m. — We go to pick pears, and Little Bun eats two of them while helping us look for ripe pears to eat. We fill a whole bag for $15, when in-store, it would certainly cost $100. It is about $5 for 6 pears in a crate here. This farm visit has saved us at least $200 or so in produce.

12:03 p.m. — We finally make our way home. It was LONG to try and find all the ripe pears (not many on the branches), and Little Bun conks out in the car.

12:45 p.m. — He wakes up as we pull into the garage, and seems to be in a good mood. He won’t be napping today. As I rush to get ready to leave (have a deep tissue massage appointment to help fix my back and shoulders), he cries and clings to me.

2:10 p.m. — Appointment over, my entire back is SORE. He REALLY got into the muscle and tissue, and man.. I am aching. $110.38

3:26 p.m. — I drop off the four vintage dresses to repair (need to open up armholes etc). I will post on Instagram the changes they made and what they look like on me after it is all done. $100

5:37 p.m. — At home, Little Bun is happy to see me. We play and do math together and then have dinner. Traffic was insane. AGAIN. They closed off a major MAJOR intersection of highways and it jammed up everywhere else on the bridges. F##^(ing Montreal.

6:45 p.m. — I start getting ready for bed. I am very tired and Little Bun is grumpy because he only had a 20 minute nap .. IN THE CAR.

7:50 p.m. — Immediate conk out. He falls asleep.

Spent: $210.38

DAY SEVEN

6:00 a.m. — My partner wakes up early to cook all the tomatoes down. He bought 60 pounds yesterday from the grocery store because there were none in the farms to pick, and he has a WHOLE DAY of doing this non-stop to cover. He de-seeds, peels them, cuts them, and cooks it all down into sauces and pastes for soups and freezes the rest for the winter into little individually portioned out glassware to pull out and use every week. Modern canning…. in a sense.

7:59 a.m. — I leave Little Bun to entertained, while I try to clean out and up my closet. I’m tired. I really can’t handle this. I think I need to redo my closet. I want to be able to sort it by season I think. Anything summer-only shouldn’t be there because I won’t wear it during Autumn or Winter. It is just making me annoyed…. How do I do this? I have to figure it out… First, a clean out, and second, a sort by season….

9:12 a.m. — I take Little Bun out to pick up a noodles, and it turns out that (A) the traffic is INSANE…. they closed out whole sections of the highways, and (B) the store doesn’t even bloody open until NOON. WTF. %#@$(@%*%ing… I buy a pack of noodles at a nearby store. $5.99

12:08 p.m. —I get back home. A bit grumpy.

12:28 p.m. — Lunch and then a nap.

3:42 p.m. — Up from the nap. I’m groggy. I should not have slept.. or should I have? I feel super tired.

4:05 p.m. — End result of my partner’s work. It took him literally all morning and all of the afternoon. About 8 quarts of concentrated tomato paste / sauce at the end.

And leftover paste for the soups this week:

See all of these tomato containers? 60 pounds worth of tomatoes cooked down in the freezer for winter to use on pizzas and so on.

4:14 p.m. — I go to take Little Bun to the park, and my partner says he is coming. OMG. REALLY? YES!! I love that we do more of these family outings together. I’m really happy and I am thrilled.

6:27 p.m. — We come home from a walk, and I am so happy. I want to do this every Sunday now. A walk and a hang out with all of us. Little Bun is so happy that Daddy AND MOMMY went out together with him.

8:00 p.m. — Bedtime. But he slept so well for his nap that he doesn’t want to sleep and wiggles everywhere.

Spent: $5.99

So glad to read that your partner came to the park too! Things seem to be improving there. Good idea to work from home more, meetings are so distracting! Sounds like you had a good week 🙂
