To Mizzy: Super Rude Commenter about the Advertising

Hi Mizzy

Thanks for your super rude comment about the advertising. I’d have emailed you personally but your email is a fake because you’re a coward who can only dish it out but can’t take it.

My site is being overloaded with issues not because I am trying to force this to be a bigger ‘income stream’, but because I am trying to fix it on my own as I have already been burned in the past with terrible programmers who charged me thousands of dollars and did jack squat.

In the past few months, I have been trying to comply with the new European ad guidelines of compliance/cookies (?) they have to adhere to, and everything is breaking. They keep updating the plugins, and changing things almost on a weekly basis it seems to me because I cannot get it to stop breaking.

I am not a computer programmer, so I have no idea how to fix this to make them work harmoniously, so it’s become a trial and error situation.

I have been installing plugins to try and meet their European cookie compliance standards, and as a result, am getting frustrated because it I cannot deep dive / code fix this.

I am just throwing plugins at it, testing, trying it again, testing, clearing the cache, Googling, etc.

I just recently got rid of yet another plugin as it didn’t seem to fix the issue of being compliant, yet helping.

So yes, I may be “losing readers” because of it, but I won’t miss your rudeness. Instead of like my other readers who have emailed me, you decided to post a rude, anonymous comment saying I am overloading the site with ads to make more money.

I have actually cut BACK on the site advertising because of the feedback, but this isn’t my full-time job.

So, goodbye.

Am my own Sugar Daddy. Am a millionaire at 36 after getting out of $60K of student debt in 18 months, a little over a decade earlier, using TheBudgetingTool.com. I have worked 50% of my career (taking 1-2 year breaks), and quadrupled my income within 2 years of graduating, going from $65K to $260K with an average lifetime savings rate of 50%. I have 11 side incomes that are on track in 2020 to make me $50K - $75K. I could retire today if I wanted, but love my work-life balance as a freelancing consultant in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math). I am all about balance - between time and money, and also enjoying my money. I also post daily on Instagram @saverspender.

Damn. People, get a grip. You are under no obligation to hang out on Sherry’s blog and if the advertisements are overwhelming you, exercise your right to move on. Hang in there, Sherry and don’t let the rude people get you down. So many of us appreciate what you are doing. Keep up the good work!

For *** sake people really have nothing to do better with their time. If you don’ t like something just stop following it. No need for rudeness. There is so much more to the site and what you write than the occasional hiccup. Who cares. Obviously people who have no self respect to not even share their actual information. Good riddance to that reader.

Thank you. It’s already frustrating enough to run a blog. I get a lot of nasty comments on older posts that people don’t see, but I don’t censor, so…

I don’t know why some of your readers are focusing on whatever advertisement show in your posts. I love reading what you write, and I just focus on that. It is amazing to me that there are people who have so much time to complain. Maybe they don’t feel too good about themselves, and have a need to be negative about those who are trying to do something positive, instructional, and entertaining. Don’t let them get to you as it’s not worth your time. I’m having fun following you especially as I recover from breast cancer surgery.

I am so very sorry you are recovering from breast cancer surgery. Are you all right? Please let me know if I can do anything.

The thing is — I ALREADY KNOW that my site is breaking. I have been logging in, testing it on different devices for the past few months, trying to see what I can do to fix it but this is a trial and error thing.

I already went into Adsense twice to lower the ads bar, but they don’t let me choose where to put the ads, they only have a slider bar that I slide back and forth and then experiment with.

No matter how I slide it, it seems to not take into account the amount of ads. It stays the same, as if it ignores what I want. Then I think it’s me, so I give it 24 hours to work, and I have to log back in and try it all over again.

It’s frustrating. I am not doing this to annoy people, but I also don’t know how to fix it without constant trial + error.

On top of that, plugins that aren’t coded for your page, need tweaking in your page code (the theme). There goes another 2-3 hours of Googling and trying to figure out how to read the code to modify it to work. It’s a lot of work, frankly.
