Style Shopper: Review Banana Republic Yellow Tank, Black Moto Legging, Ponte Red Sunset Midi Skirt

You can read all of my clothing reviews here under Style Shopper.

I am normally a US 4 on bottoms (Designer US 4, Banana Republic 2, J. Crew 4 for the upper half like for jackets, or J. Crew 2 for the bottoms).

I’m an inverted triangle and normally wear an Small or 2 (smallest sizes in all mainstream brands except for designer brands where I usually take a US 4).

I am also 5’6″ and fairly slim overall. Small busted (A cup).

I will say for my shoulders I ALWAYS take a size larger than the bottom, like a US 6 in designer brands, or a US 4 in Banana Republic, or a J. Crew US 4 for instance, because my shoulders are large, my torso is wider after the pregnancy, but my body is slim overall.

I am super picky and hate itchy items of any kind because I have eczema (most wool-items and wool-blends are out, or anything unlined), too-tight things and anything that doesn’t look or feel expensive and wonderful.

$9 is $90 is $900. The price makes no difference to me.

Looks good so far right? I love a good moto legging and this one from Banana Republic looked perfect online.

And it looks like this:

So I love that there is a zipper on the side…

But the knee looks CHEAP as a moto legging.

I was expecting raised lines, not sewn down, cheap fabric pieces to make it look ‘moto’ when it really isn’t. Quite disappointing.

I saw this and didn’t even try them on. I knew they would go back.

I LOVE a good skirt. A good, comfortable, ponte skirt.

This ponte midi skirt from Banana Republic, I ordered in black, navy and this “Sunset red” (which is really orange) and while I don’t love the colour near my face, I love it on a bottom as a statement piece…

The back is super comfy too and it feels THICK, not at all thin, and properly covered.

Even the waist band is super comfy.

I saw right away that my favourite magenta pink belt would be perfect with this skirt, and it adds a very striking note to the entire outfit.

I am very excited now to try out more options with this belt and this orange skirt, and maybe blue on top? Colour blocking time!

I took a size in “Small” instead of “Extra Small” and it fit perfectly for a US 4 bottom. I could have gone down to Extra Small for a tighter fit but I’m too old for that #%*.

This button-shoulder yellow top from Banana Republic is great, because it is the right dandelion yellow, and I took both the XS and the S because I didn’t know how it would fit.

The Extra Small turned out to be a tiny bit too fitted in the torso for my liking (my torso expanded after I had Little Bun), so I sized up to a Small so I wouldn’t feel so uncomfortable.

There is extra room around the side though, as you can see, and I don’t hate it:

Yep! Torso at the back fits fine, not too tight in the Small:

(Don’t worry, I don’t ever plan on pairing yellow and orange together. Makes me look like a mustard + ketchup covered hot dog in the making….)
