Sherry’s #OOTD Outfit of the Day Style & Fashion Look: “The Wanna-be Meghan Markle Look”

I post my outfits on the blog every day at noon (12 p.m. EST) under this Style category #OOTD Daily Style and then I do a summary of all the looks in my Month of Style roundup at the end of the month.

The Wanna-be Meghan Markle Look

I bought this ensemble because I have been enamoured with this Givenchy look that Meghan Markle wore.¬†This look is nothing like what she has on, as you can see, it is a pale, pale comparison to true craftmanship, but I am being cheap, and I didn’t (and couldn’t) bring myself to spend thousands of dollars on an outfit. If I found it secondhand, I’d pay for it, but not thousands.

I decided to add a necklace even though her look doesn’t call for one, as I am taking creative license, and I wanted to show off the DIY piece I made out of sea glass beads, gold painted, and layered.

As you can see, the outfit doesn’t look at all like the one Markle has, not even close. The fabric is different, the colours are off as a result (you can never match colours if the fabrics are different). It’s a facsimile, but not the real thing.

I decided to also take more liberties, and add gold flat knotted sandals to match up the look to the necklace that is gold-ish as well.

So while I cannot say that I love the look together as an example of Markle’s Givenchy look, it is nice as an outfit on its own, if you don’t do the comparison. I also think the pieces are better as separates maybe. I will be trying out new looks with the pieces to see.
