Sherry’s #OOTD Outfit of the Day Style & Fashion Look: “The Walking on Sunshine Look”

I post my outfits on the blog every day at noon (12 p.m. EST) under this Style category #OOTD Daily Style and then I do a summary of all the looks in my Month of Style roundup at the end of the month.

The Walking on Sunshine Look

I paid more for this dress than I expected but HOW COULD I NOT? Look at the colour. It literally makes me feel like I am wearing, and walking on liquid sunshine.

The ruffle in front is totally not my jam, but I like it because it’s a pleated ruffle and less like a prairie ruffle. I also removed the belt that came with the dress (of course), and put in my own navy belt instead. Originally a strapless dress, I did not feel comfortable at all wearing it without some sort of straps so I took the belt and knowing I’d never wear it with the dress, I made straps out of it.

The fabric is what truly drew me to the look because it’s actually a SILK blend. It has the most luxurious feel, and reminds me a TINY bit of expensive window drapes, but in a good way. The fabric is like this rough, almost raw silk like quality to it. AND IT HAS POCKETS!

I paired it with my latest obsession that I wish I had this summer to wear – my Grear sandals from Sarah Flint (use my code for $50!).

Excuse the Troll hair. I had it lightly curled but then it just lost all of its shape because I didn’t put the dryer on super high heat to hold the curl. This is what my hair looks like, air dried with nothing done to it. It’s a little messy, hence why I curl it 100% of the time.

I like the look of a dark navy with a bright gemstone sort of colour because I feel like it grounds the combination of colours, instead of it being black because black + yellow = bumblebee vibes. I also don’t like matching anything, so the leather on the sandals are a dark cognac brown and the leather in the belt is a navy, so neutrals go together but they don’t need to necessarily match in colour, just feel and tone.

I completely suggest studying the colour wheel, and looking around you in nature, especially on the backs of insects, their wings, and in flowers. I get 80% of my combinations for colours from studying beetles. (I am not even joking).

The entire look screams SUMMER to me, and I may plunk a hat on top if I were to go out, a nice almost white fedora with my black and white stripe like this hat:

And just under $500 without the hat, purse, and complete with real life Troll hair. <3
