Sherry’s #OOTD Outfit of the Day Style & Fashion Look: The Vivienne Westwood Inspired Look

I post my outfits on the blog every day at noon (12 p.m. EST) under this Style category #OOTD Daily Style and then I do a summary of all the looks in my Month of Style roundup at the end of the month.

Why Vivenne Westwood? Well she’s a kooky designer but also just interesting with her draping, elegant, and fun, which is why this look reminds me of her.

I mean, a REALLY tame version, but .. kind of like her.

She also has a lot of looks where I see solid influences from Asia, particularly kimonos and draping of that sort.

She also has very unexpected or unusual twists in her clothing, which segues nicely with this sweater having only one arm, and the other completely open as a poncho (no for real, I have to wear a tank top underneath this or else I’ll be flashing people).

The necklace is a vintage piece by Canadian brutalist designer Rafael Alfandary. It’a statement piece, and YES it’s a bit clinky/loud when you walk or wear it. It clangs against itself…

I love the kind of kimono inspired look that this sweater gives to my dress. I used the belt in the dress to make it seem like it was intentional as a look to tie it all together and not look disjointed.

I also like the sharp lines of the black sweater going down the front of the dress with the ties hanging off the side in a half loop. I added black heels because… it just fit, and there’s already so much going on with the look, I didn’t want to also make the shoes a focal point.

It was warm, comfortable, cool, a little edgy… and it looks like an actual dress not a sweater over a dress!
