I post my outfits on the blog every day at noon (12 p.m. EST) under this Style category #OOTD Daily Style and then I do a summary of all the looks in my Month of Style roundup at the end of the month.
The Relaxed Tuxedo Look
I am surprised as you are at how much I love this look. First of all, it’s pretty dark. I mean greys and blacks? AND NO COLOUR!? Gasp.
But it is in the details – the duster is a tuxedo style that adds some dimension to the whole look with the shawl collar, and the sweater is an interesting texture with a really great ribbed hem at the bottom, and the cuffs in a felted style.
I added even more texture in the jeans being ripped because I like that juxtaposition of formal (tuxedo) with very decidedly informal (ripped jeans right up to the thigh).
The entire look is so masculine from the sneakers to the tuxedo to the plain colours and even the ripped jeans, that I decided it needed a feminine touch, which comes in a very delicate, silver lace cuff (one I have been hunting for years on the secondhand market by Stella and Dot), that gives the look a bit of relief without having to use a bold statement necklace.
I shied away from something really bright and bold as a cuff or necklace because the entire mood of the outfit is not bright and happy, it’s somber, and elegant with a twist.
The gold Lanvin sneakers (LOVE even though it’s a size too large!), is my subtle twist to the outfit, to add some glam and femininity, in a very masculine sneaker. Gold is a neutral metallic for me that goes with the rest of the neutrals.
Plus they’re super comfy.
