Sherry’s #OOTD Outfit of the Day Style & Fashion Look: “The Modern Peg Bundy Look”

I post my outfits on the blog every day at noon (12 p.m. EST) under this Style category #OOTD Daily Style and then I do a summary of all the looks in my Month of Style roundup at the end of the month.

Leather, Wool and Camel Spot, Oh my!

I wanted to wear this sweater. That’s it. That’s how this whole outfit started — Another asymmetrical sweater, another look that’s easily done. At first I thought – should I do a contrast thing, like my previous looks? But then I decided something more monochromatic would be up my alley for this look plus some camel spot heels for some interest and print. Like a modern cougar. LOL.

I call this my modern “Peg Bundy Look” because I used to watch Married with Children ALL THE TIME as a kid (maybe that says a lot more about my parents than it does about me, letting me watch such a show lol)… but she was always swanning around in tight tops, belts, leggings and heels. This smacks of her style, but … for the modern millennia.

It reminds me of Peg Bundy only because she LOVED animal print, and I have a bit of it in the heels:

Or maybe I am a Real Housewife with this look (no wait, the heels aren’t platforms nor high enough). Either way, I kind of love it.

It’s a great outfit for a reason you know? Leather leggings, a great draped top that shows a bit of shoulder… it all works. I like the look of it, and I feel comfortable. It also looks good in motion!!

The leggings are by The Row, and expensive AF at retail, I got them secondhand, and they’re worth every penny, even though they’re mid-rise and I would much prefer a high-rise legging instead (sigh..). At any rate, they’re VERY comfortable, not at all skintight or rubbery, which is the problem I have with vegan leather leggings because they look too thin, skintight, and … not at all chic or expensive.

The thing with leather leggings, is I look for it to NOT hug your ankles like cling film… but have a little bit of a pant/legging look, and a little space or air from your actual legs because that’s what real pants, not leggings do. Yes, these are leggings but they aren’t YOGA leggings, or tights! I want leather legging pants, if that makes sense. Something that looks more like pants than leggings because I still can’t get behind leggings = pants.

You can see with these leather leggings, they bunch a little and look more like pants. I have tried on cheaper leather legging versions and none have felt quite as nice as these.

A close up on the (wrinkled, sorry) sweater, with a shoulder peeking out. <3 I love a good shoulder moment. I also added a knuckle dusting drusy ring I got secondhand from eBay because I loved the look of a gemstone, roughed up and shiny, yet unpolished on my finger:

The yellow in the gemstone picks up in the camel colour of the heels, and the spots of the camel spot, picks up that ONE brown spot (natural) in the drusy ring. It all works so perfectly together, it’s like kismet. Maybe no one will notice these details when I wear the outfit, but I definitely do. I see that it all goes together.

It also adds (in its style), a little more edge to the whole look and makes it less Real Housewives (maybe?) than a polished, gleaming gem of a stone that would be too … on the nose of being fancy and stylish.
