I post my outfits on the blog every day at noon (12 p.m. EST) under this Style category #OOTD Daily Style and then I do a summary of all the looks in my Month of Style roundup at the end of the month.
The Laced Up Army Look
Okay, so I say “army” but only the skirt could be remotely close to a military style look. It’s the right khaki green, and the pockets are a deeper khaki green with a rose gold ‘button’ detail. The rest of it, are simple pieces.
The skirt is from a brand that is into technical athleisure that is work-friendly, kind of like Lululemon but for the office and I am obsessed with their pieces (Lululemon and Kit and Ace I mean).
The pockets are functional but I’d never use them because they’d ruin the line of the skirt, and the skirt is a stretchy jersey that is very comfortable, albeit kind of sexy because the slit in front can be a little scandalous if you don’t sit appropriate. *ahem*
The sandals are of course, Jessica Simpson, who makes crazy comfortable shoes (I KNOW RIGHT? SURPRISING.):
And the shirt is from Sézane, a French brand. I went to their store in NYC with my friend, and while 50% of their items weren’t my vibe – too bohemian, frilly, floral, and ruffly, this shirt spoke to me immediately with the lace detailing around the bottom of the shirt (front and back), and on the cross-back that is also open. You can see it better here in this outfit:
And here’s a close up of that gorgeous lace:
Lastly, I decided to end the outfit with a fun pink ring because…. why not? Everything else is so neutral, why not a pop of pretty pink?
I like this YSL arty ring because it looks like bubblegum. I like the bright colour and it feels like a nice piece to wear with outfits like this one, that need a little something extra.
The entire outfit came together JUST BECAUSE I wanted to wear the Sézane lace top again, but not with jeans. So I thought – why not with a high waisted skirt? Not leather (although that’s a look that’s coming up one day, I’m sure), and I went with a kind of military meets lace vibe when I conceived of this look, choosing a khaki green skirt that pairs very well with a black tee.
The rest, just came together – neutral accessories, pop of colour in a ring, but the main thing was thinking of how I could sneak another outfit with this tee into my style roundups, as I love the split back and the lace so much.
