Sherry’s #OOTD Outfit of the Day Style & Fashion Look: The Hermes Messenger Look

I post my outfits on the blog every day at noon (12 p.m. EST) under this Style category #OOTD Daily Style and then I do a summary of all the looks in my Month of Style roundup at the end of the month.

It makes me think of Mercury / Hermes, which is fitting as these wrap boots are made by the fashion house Hermès. I wasn’t going to post this look, to be totally honest. I took a few shots and then thought: These boots are all wrong for this outfit. It needs tights, and I just feel like it doesn’t GO.

But I decided to post the look anyway, because I think learning from mistakes is as important as posting a photo-perfect look that works every time.

Here’s why it works: The necklace is a beautiful aventurine statement stone (I now know how expensive these things are to buy to make jewellery with), with gorgeous gold and polished wood accents, and it just fits the dress perfectly because of the green, but also the wood and gold.

Where it fails is that the boots are too high on the ankle. If I had worn these boots instead that are shorter and cut in front, it would look more like a heel and less like a BOOT which makes the whole look extra clumpy and clunky.

However, the more I look at it, the less I hate it. I think there’s something here, but I cannot figure out (yet) how to twist it around. I think the boots could be cool, like this (with tights?) with this dress, but I am missing a topper, like a leather jacket maybe, to add to that whole motorcycle + tough biker look but with a very elegant dress underneath.
