I post my outfits on the blog every day at noon (12 p.m. EST) under this Style category #OOTD Daily Style and then I do a summary of all the looks in my Month of Style roundup at the end of the month.
The Date Night Look
This. Is. A. Date. Night. Look. Why? Because I’m literally wearing a black slip as a dress. It’s opaque and really cute, and works in a pinch as a super short dress. Because I feel a little exposed, I throw a light silk trench ‘dress’ over the slip, and it gives me a little more coverage without being too heavy like with a sweater, or a duster.
I can even belt it up if I want to keep it closed, and not have it flap everywhere.
The coat, open, looks great. It’s long but not too long, and is super lightweight and a nice dark pine green that goes well with the black without being too much of a contrast; I don’t like very bright colours with black for instance, because I feel like it looks cheap. Magenta pink + Black looks too bright with black, and cheapens the black.
I prefer colours like navy blue, indigo blue, dark charcoal grey, and pine green with black.
Oh and because it’s date night, it’s a vintage Chanel that comes out to pick up on the black in the slip dress, and the gold hardware on the Chanel flap that picks up the gold in the shoes (look at the soles, it comes out in a point, and is a bright metallic gold). See? The bright gold on there adds that glam that you see to the shoe, and to the whole look. The heels are also pretty high at 4″, but because they’re wedges, they’re SUPER comfortable to walk in for a date night around town.
I can also hold the purse as a clutch and tuck in the straps, to hold it under my arm instead.
Another close up of that – see how the delicate gold bangle matches up to the gold hardware on the Chanel flap? Perfection.
Walking, in motion shot. The trench coat is light, and flows nicely behind me while I walk.
Oh yeah you need an awkward photo op shot right? LOL! I have no… freakin’ idea what I was doing here. Probably, trying to just put the bag on my shoulder so I can take a picture, but then I somehow went all awkward in my limbs. Haha….. Just imagine my face in this shot, probably some sort of half-lidded, mouth open idiocy. LOL
