Referral Code [ PTM210713 ] for Money & Review: PayTM for your Canadian utilities, municipal taxes and bills – Canada
HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT PAYTM UNTIL NOW?
You can use your credit card to pay for your bills
Download this app now, it is on the App Store
Use Referral Code:
- Only in India and Canada right now
- Canada App: PayTM Canada
I just paid my municipal bill of over $2800 with my credit card, and I earned points on THAT through PayTM and through my credit card rewards.
Considering I pay all of our bills, this is another $6000 – $10,000 in extra possible reward cashbacks from my Mastercard, which means an additional $200 in my pocket for just paying basic bills.

Use my referral code:
….pay a bill over $50, you get 5000 points to use for rewards / gift cards, and I get 5000 points too!
I like free stuff. Especially when it is free, and paying bills that I have to pay anyway… I always thought it was dumb I couldn’t pay with a credit card.
Canada and India only!! Sorry Americans 🙁
Except in Quebec (BOO) you can also use it to pay your PC Mastercard, Tangerine, etc. I mean, a credit card to pay your credit card for points?!?
You can ONLY use a MASTERCARD to pay without a fee. I have the Rogers Bank Mastercard, so I’m solid on this.
I am in Quebec, so it only covers your municipal bills, and taxes. Fine by me. But you can search for so many other bills that they cover.
What bills Quebec can add:
Only 2 🙁
- Quebec City of Montreal Property Taxes — the ID number is your Numéro de référence in that box, all the numbers without the dashes.
- Comité de Gestion de la taxe Scolaire L’ile Montreal (School taxes)
You get points, which you can use towards gift cards on Amazon.ca, etc. $1 = 1 point
It is SO easy to download the app (PayTM) and sign up to pay, and once you pay a bill at least $50 in value, you get an extra 5000 points and so do I. Free $5 gift card, basically.
You set up the billers just like in online banking, search for the name like “Montreal Municipal” or “Hudson’s Bay Mastercard”, and then add them, add the account number, and PAY.
And thanks in advance for the referrals 😀
UPDATE: They now charge you a fee for paying with your credit card for MUNICIPAL taxes.
I thought it over however, and it is still a good deal to have it paid out of my bank account via PayTM because I obtain the points for PayTM that I can use towards Starbucks or other gift cards, even if I can’t use my credit card and get points via that.
So. Pay your municipal tax bills with a linked bank card, but use your credit card for everything else.
Be forewarned that when they deposit amounts, it isn’t like in banks where they just leave the money and write it off — they WILL debit the money back out of your account a few days later, and if you don’t keep any money in your chequing account, you could get dinged with an Insufficient Funds Fee (NSF) like I did 🙁
