What I liked this week:
- Am I crazy for wanting this really chic hip bag? (Read: cooler name for a “fanny pack”)??? Is this Hands-Free Mommyhood talking right now!? What is happening to me!?
- This is so scary and so is this. I actually started crying, thinking about Baby Bun and what I would do if he was one of these kids. SO. SCARY. How do you prevent this as a parent? I can’t stop crying. Seriously. How do you prevent a child from doing this when their brains are literally half formed? No phones? No social media accounts? I’m thinking yes to both or at least serious monitoring if he ever gets accounts.
- I always feel like the lead parent. When my partner stayed at home to watch Baby Bun when I went back to work, he confessed to not correcting people when they said things like: “Oh so you’re working from home today?”. No one ever assumes a Mommy is working from home; whenever I go to pick Baby Bun up or do things during the day when I am actually working from home, they just assume I’m a stay-at-home mom & invite me to activities and things during the day. :\ H/T to Revanche
- This is hilarious because I can imagine myself doing it to Baby Bun. Laughing over here. With tears.
- I am not a hockey fan or even into sports at all, but it is hard not to get swept up in it when your whole office is into it. Anyway, this Youtube fan has THE BEST videos on Carey Prices’ Top 10 Saves over the past 3 years. He is an incredible goalie.
- No, we women aren’t always exaggerating our pain. We really aren’t. When I was in labour with Baby Bun, my OB had written: FAST DELIVERY in all caps and huge !!!! … and even with that, they didn’t get around to trying to give me the epidural until his foot was coming out. The agony and pain I felt was just indescribable. I tried to talk about it here to give you an idea. I know women who are pregnant and in labour are always screaming and in pain but they should have reacted at least an hour sooner than they did instead of dismissing my quickly increasing pain & urgency until it was almost too late to not be able to issue me an epidural for my C-section.

I bought a fanny pack for the road trip this summer. Practicality won out. I don’t use it daily but on a month long trip I decide that I should be practical and it was.

I swear it was a life saver when we were traveling cross country by car. Sigh. Practical. Ugly and cheap is what I got. I tossed it in the closet and there it will stay until I travel again then I bet I use it. Two kids and a plane ride I see it in my future again.

@save. spend. splurge.: I like it. Text size looks fine to me. The clean aesthetics are more in line with your personal style so A+ on the branding.
2 things: your instagram button on the floating icon set is actually linked to tumblr and not instagram. Two, if possible can you add a bloglovin button to that as well or make the bloglovin button on the home page a more obvious icon. Asking for selfish reasons because bloglovin is my reader of choice and I don’t like it when blogs make me do extra work to subscribe

My mom put the fear of God into us when we were kids. A lot of it had to do with her rescuing a little girl who had been kidnapped before she ever had children of our own. She was always sure to tell us the horror stories about John Walsh’s son who was found completely dismembered. Graffic for a young child, but it made a lasting impression. Thankfully social media wasn’t an issue until we were much older.

Those videos that you posted were emotional because I could have been one of those kids too now that I think about it. Thankfully I wasn’t because I grew up when the internet was dial-up only. I was only in chat rooms, Xanga and Neopets. 😀 However, I remember talking to strangers on AIM and didn’t know what I was doing. When you are young, you are very trusting, curious and naive. That’s a horrible combination in today’s world. Fortunately, I am naturally a scaredy cat and didn’t go on further… (Although I somehow ended up with an online bf for a couple days. I got scared and broke it off. XD) Kids these days have too much time on their hands. If I was a parent, I would do it the old fashion way like how I was raised. No flip phones until senior year of high school!
It’s hard to restrict kids though because the social media possibilities are endless. I am thankful that I grew up in the old days where nothing was developed yet. But how long can you shelter them from this? I think you should show them that video as an education video like a sex ed video. 😛

I have no idea but I need to figure it out if I am to protect Baby Bun. Constant vigilance and drilling into the head worked on me for crossing the road, so maybe this is the same.

Nope, not crazy. I’ve been eyeing waist packs too but haven’t bit yet. Found a few on etsy too. Crossbodies hurt my shoulder now, even if tiny, due to a degenerative disc in my neck. I only carry a small commes de garcon wallet, iphone & lipstick now so a nice waistpack will serve me quite well.
