Holiday Gift Guide: Gorgeous, artisanal jewelry and accessories for the discerning woman (Part Two)
Here is part two of my favourite independent shops. Part One of my Holiday Gift Guide of favourite independent designers is here.
SHEKHTWOMAN – NORTH CAROLINA, USA
Her cityscape rings are so beautiful.
I own Paris, Hong Kong, NYC and London.
I’m eying Barcelona, Toronto, Stockholm, and Tokyo next… obviously.
MAPOLOGY – USA
Silk scarves printed and made in Canada.
I think her map scarves are gorgeous and am eying the two below for when I have $$$$.
I don’t remember much of L.A. when I visited as a child, but I really like the retro print of this one.
This is the Arctic circle, and shows part of Canada…
PINS & NEEDLES – CALIFORNIA, USA
Every single case I own for my laptops and iPads is from this woman. Rosemary is an artist. I particularly like the style above that looks like a flap, and these cases look SO CHIC I actually use them as clutches when I go out.
Double-duty.
They are stylish, very well made, well stitched and a beautiful case.
SUSANGORDONPOTTERY – ALABAMA, USA
I am normally not into decor or anything like that, but these handmade ceramic bowls are gorgeous.
I also happen to like these dishes too:
OHLEANDER – USA
How chic is that gold leaf design?
It also comes in a square.
If vintage enamelled copper dishes are more your thing, here’s a great shop for them from Germany.
KATERINAKI1977Â – ATHENS, GREECE
I just discovered her, and this ring in particular. Her work is minimalist, bold.. everything I like in jewellery.
I like that this single chevron ring looks like two!
This geometry one is also unusual, and I really like the look of it.
FELTPLANET – PENNSYLVANIA, USA
I really like felt (can you tell?).. and this valet tray is on my wish list as well. It unsnaps so you can travel with it (lays flat) and use it in hotel rooms to catch your keycards and all those things you don’t want to put away, nor lose.
THE WHITE RIBBON – BERLIN, GERMANY
I have yet to buy some shoes from them, so take my gushing with a grain of salt. The shoes seem to be made more for weddings, like wedding slippers, but they look so simple and elegant.
Rose gold, would be my pick.
SKETCHADESIGN – TEL AVIV, ISRAEL
I prefer their work for necklaces because it looks like a cityline, landscape sort of deal.
This one is Sydney:
And I own this one, NYC along with London (the new London design seems to have changed… Big Ben is not as prominent. You can see the original one here.) and Paris.
PATERSON & SALISBURY – NEW ZEALAND
I had eyed this tote for such a long time before pulling the trigger. It’s expensive BUT SO WORTH IT.
It is GOR-GEOUS. Really truly, a beautiful piece of artistry. The copper rivets, the little pocket inside, the very sturdy, stitched handles, and the smell of beeswax and lavender from the coating they use is stunning.
It also comes in Black & Sunburnt Clay.
I love the tote. It’s so much better made than those other kind of flimsy leather things out there that charge in the hundreds. Pay a little more, and get a beautiful (albeit a bit heavy) piece.
kmBaggies – POLAND
How COOL is this bag? It is creeping higher on my wish list for Christmas because I think it looks great, and casual without being too slouchy.
It also looks masculine but feminine, and elegant yet not too prissy all at the same time.
I sort of have a love for this wild blue one too:
Would you believe I have still more designers on my list? Let me know if a Part Three is necessary.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVOURITE SHOPS?
