Canadiana: What candy & snacks do we have that is not available in the U.S.?
To all my American readers:
I am planning on bringing a care package and shipping the rest of it (depending on how much I need to bring) to the U.S. as a gift and treat when I go.
So far, I have compiled a list of things I think are NOT available in the U.S.
Can you please confirm?
CHOCOLATE BARS
- Coffee Crisp
- Smarties – Your “smarties” are apparently Rockets; ours are more like M&Ms
- Caramilk
- Crunchie bars
- Aero bars
- Mr. Big bars
- Kit Kats – You have these but made by Hershey not Nestle, right?
- Big Turk
- Mackintosh toffee
- Maltesers
- Mars Bars
CHIP FLAVOURS
- Ketchup Chips
Dill Pickle chips- All Dressed Chips
- PC flavours of chips – poutine,
maple baconetc
SNACKS
- Hickory Sticks – These are smoked potato stick chips (julienned shape)
Kinder Eggs(Yes, not available but are illegal in the U.S.)

I just found out recently during a conversation about Oreos that I had with a friend of mine in Chicago, that they don’t have Fudgee-O’s in the US!

We at least used to have Mars bars but these days they seem harder to find. If you are going in the Southeast rural areas, hickory sticks (or US equivalent) may be found. At least, I remember them too. (Along with moon pies!)

Pretty sure your list is mostly correct. At least in Portland, OR where I’m from. When I was taking business trips to Montreal I would stock up on candy we couldn’t get here. lol. Coffee Crisps are one of my favs. 😀
Some Asian stores have various flavors of Kit Kats (like matcha!!!) that you can’t find normally… Also, I think I maybe have seen Aero bars in some stores… But that could be wishful thinking?

Dill pickle chips are pretty easily available in the US, although I don’t know if you’re thinking of a particular brand. I’ve also seen a few brands with maple bacon flavors, too. The rest of it seems right. (BTW, I’m in the midwestern US.)

They don’t have any of that stuff in the States??? What do they have down there? Aside from the Smarties and ketchup chips, I always assumed they had everything we had, and more!
