WHAT I BOUGHT

OK this is more of what I saw…

This hideous frog purse. Anyone wanna guess how much it cost?!

I did NOT BUY THIS.

ogilvy-frog-purse

I also became an adult and bought these gorgeous cards (blank notecards) to be able to write thank you notes and other things to people properly. The artist is Sofia Perina-Miller and her work is just stunning.

[RETURNED] BURBERRY SUEDE BIKER JACKET – $2500

I couldn’t stomach the price. I love it, but not for that price. It’s double what I’d pay for something that everyone has correctly pointed out is SUEDE meaning it cannot be worn in the rain, and has to be treated with kid gloves.

For $2500, I can’t be babying a jacket no matter how amazing it is. I’d rather save that money, but I will be on the lookout for something else as a gift.

Maybe.

It was really pretty. Look!

[THRIFTED] OSCAR DE LA RENTA SILK SCARF – $65

It originally retails for about $900 USD so.. $65 seems like a steal to me.

And it’s vintage.

M0851 CROSSBODY CLUTCH IN IRIS – $125

Bought this at the m0851 famous sample sale in Montreal. It was insane, let me tell ya. I should have taken pictures there were so many people, so many things, tons of tables.. NUTS.

Anyway, I’ve been eying this clutch for a long time. It’s soft, has 2 zippered compartments and looks like a great, quick bag to use.

JURLIQUE HAND CREAM TRIO – $127

I LOVE Jurlique hand creams, so during the Sephora sale with 10% off, I picked up two sets of the trio of Rose, Lavender and Citrus.

I love all the scents, especially Lavender.

HELMUT LANG SONAR WOOL JACKET – $488

helmut-lang-sonar-wool-jacket

After Belle’s glowing review of it, I thought I’d give it a shot. It’s 100% wool, made in the U.S. and it looks divine…!!!

Let’s see how it does.

[RETURNED] BANANA REPUBLIC MIXED STRIPED SKIRT – $47.50

banana-republic-mixed-stripe-midi-skirt

I like the print and so on, but it’s a little long. I don’t know if I want to keep it. Midi is not my thing but… it would be so cute with a pair of heels..

I also kind of feel that I can find this skirt for cheaper.

Too long, too heavy, too thick. TERRIBLE.

Not suitable for my skinny hipped body. There was WAY too much fabric. It would have been better as a pencil skirt.

[RETURNED] BANANA REPUBLIC COTTON MOTO JACKET – $85

banana-republic-cotton-moto-jacket

I love me a good moto jacket. The cut, the styling.. I could collect these in all forms.

The colour however, has put me off. It’s more chili red rather than the kind of deep blue-ish red that I like.

Actually now that I think about it, I’m returning it because it reminds me too much of Michael Jackson’s red leather jacket from Thriller. It was just too close for comfort.

[RETURNED] BANANA REPUBLIC HIGH-RISE INDIGO SKINNY JEAN – $40

banana-republic-indigo-high-rise-skinny-jean

I have high-rise skinnies in a medium blue but not in a deep dark indigo blue which is why I gave these a shot.

But they’re too thin, they’re not THAT soft, they don’t have a nice weight to them. They’re not worth the cheap price.

I’d rather spend more money and buy Second Yoga jeans (Montreal-made) or another pair of Citizens…

These aren’t great jeans.

[RETURNED] BANANA REPUBLIC NAVY COTTON BIKER JACKET – $91.50

banana-republic-navy-cotton-biker-jacket

Pricey for sure, but it’s mostly cotton and I can never say no to a nice looking jacket.

I like the styling, the plainness of it… it looks great over anything.

I already have a kind of navy blue jacket, plus another one that is sort of belted.. but none that are BOTH and so incredibly cute.

The only problem is that when I shrugged it on, it felt like corduroy fabric but the fabric was textured. It was very weird.

Also, it’s loose, boxy, felt thin, and I don’t like the belt hanging off on the bottom in the end, and I would have kept it, for maybe $30, but not almost $100.

It’s a nice jacket to shrug on as outerwear but it just didn’t make me squeal.

Banana Republic is one of those stores I got into a couple of years ago. I’ve recently found that even though I like their designs and concepts, the actual clothes are just wrong for me so I end up returning a bunch and the ones I did keep did not last a year in my closet before I sold/donated them. With BR, I’m learning to admire and move on.

I like certain pieces but have learned to stay away from 100% polyester anything no matter how cute it looks online.

I have almost the exact same striped Banana Republic Skirt! I love mine. Mine is a wee-bit shorter though.

@save. spend. splurge.: Sorry, should have clarified. I have a skirt that looks exactly like it. It is a heavier material too but that works in my favour because of my body type. (Need more structured clothes.)

That Burberry is pretty, but $2500 and babying suede pretty? Nope. I’m with you on that one. That Helmut Lang coat is gorgeous though.

I hopped onto the Banana Republic website to see if that striped skirt was still available. It’s sold out šŸ™ I’d be all over it if it wasn’t. I prefer the heavier fabrics.

Love the purple crossbody. I have a Rebecca Minkoff clutch with a removable strap in a similar shade of purple and use it constantly.

I’m really getting into this small crossbody business. It’s SO easy to move around with it.

I actually kind of like the frog purse. I’m guessing it was either in the $300-400 range or $1200+.

I used to love Banana Republic and got my work pants from there during their semi-annual sale. I still have some items that I treasure from there. However from 3 years ago, I haven’t bought anything from there. Everything looks cheap, ill fitted and sizing is not consistent. What a shame.

For me the sizes have become too big. I’m a 000 apparently. A tall 000. That doesn’t exist. But in other brands, I’m a US 4…

Love the Banana Republic skirt and can definitely rock the hell out of it, but can’t fathom paying that much for it. I love Banana Republic clothes and use to purchase items online on a regular, but until my debt is gone, I can’t afford to pay Banana Republic prices. Thanks for giving me a glimpse of what I can purchase once I’m debt free.
