Why is this Emerson Fry bag so expensive?

It’s perfect.

PERFECT I TELL YOU.

The right size, the right sheen, black, simple, has a zipper on the back, the inside, and little metal feet.

But it’s $1200 and totally, absolutely out of the question, particularly since we have our eye on buying something for 2017, and every dollar, penny, peso will count.

Or is it out of my budget?

IS IT?

No, it is.

It is definitely out of my budget. *takes a deep breath*

Condo. Condo. Condo.

(This is what happens in my head when I try to justify something ridiculous, like another Burberry coat or something.)

I love that bag! I’ve been coveting everything Emerson Fry lately. I’ve bought a few items from them (on sale) so far and I must say it is well worth it. The quality is impeccable and I’m happy to be purchasing something made in North America.
Even though it’s a beautiful bag, $1200 puts it in Louis Vuitton price ranges. Too rich for my blood. And same for me…condo, condo, condo or house, house, house.

That bag is simply GORGEOUS! $1,200.00 is sooo pricey though. At that price, it should last forever, right? 🙂

Gorgeous! And functional too. I love big bags. I got out of college in the 90s where we did small bags and briefcases for work. The modern way of carrying a large handbag for all tech and paperwork is much better.

Not to be a bad influence, lol, but $1,200 is not too bad for a luxury bag of that size. Something comparable from say, Prada, would be at least $1,800. Do you see why I’m very dangerous to go shopping with?

@Tania: I love her entire outfit too, the oversized coat, the slip on mules. Minimal black with interesting shapes. I just went to their site and OMG, now I’m obsessed. I’m supposed to be thinking about personal finance, haha.

That bag is the perfect size too. Not too big, not too small.. not too lapto-y.

Yes. YES. I KNOW. I have been enabling myself in my head because I was thinking: Well.. Hermes is like $20,000…

The bag is a beauty…just a tad insane on the price tag lol! We need to find you a contact who works at Emerson Fry so you can benefit from employee prices 🙂

I am the opposite of you. I love buying bags mostly the ridiculous expensive ones and learned not to buy the close second even it is cheaper because I end up craving the original item even more. On top of that, with clothing you can buy cheaper alternative but with bags, cheaper alternatives don’t cut it. It may look the same, but sure won’t feel the same when it comes to the quality of the leather and the design.

Which is why I am not buying ANY BAG until I can justify / afford this one. 😛 😛 😛 😛

Smart move!I wasted so much money buying the close second when I add them up I was shocked to find out that I could have easily bought the original item. I was so upset. It happened with my Isabel Marant Dicker boots, which are so comfortable. I wear them enough and would wear them all them time if my office wasn’t so conservative. So I could justify the purchase. The same thing with my Chanel bag, now that I know how it feels, I am very picky with my purchases and exercise my patience when it comes to shopping and save money to purchase items that I absolutely love.

I am not trying to encourage you to buy it but with your finances you can easily afford it. I guess it comes down to you being able to justify it to yourself.

I love that bag!! But, it’s made in the U.S.A. or Italy (they seem to get leather from Italy) so that might be why. Happily, the shoes I was eyeing a few months ago went on sale. Still in love with them. Might have to side hustle me a pair.

I love that bag! This is what I’m doing as well whenever I want to buy something. We are currently saving for a down payment for our next home (2 years from now) and I need to hold back from any big spending.

Just see baby bun gumming it and upchucking his meal on it… or… when it’s FULL of stuff, and you’re also carrying a heavy crying baby. See, now a tiny existing purse seems much better right? 😉

  • Clarisse @ Make Money Your Way

That Emerson Fry bag is really, really nice! I love bags, but I’m not a fan of buying expensive or too much pricey bags. 🙂
