What’s in my real-life minimalist bathroom: Sneak Peek
This is a REAL photo of a REAL bathroom; not a magazine spread with fake toiletries and cute bottles everywhere.
(Glass in the bathroom? What at terrible idea.)
I consider myself a minimalist (a practical, realistic one) and this is the barest that I can go. I guess I could go without any makeup and cut back on even more, but what’s the point?
The shower is this.
I can’t really cut back on anything in the shower. I think I’m good here.
The drawer with all my toiletries and stuff. I can cut back on some eyeshadows and powders, but.. it’s pretty bare. I would maybe get rid of a few eyeshadows or lip things but that’s it.
The sink is pretty bare as well.
Makeup brushes, toiletries that are bare and basics. I want to make this entire sink completely bare but this is impossible. The bottles are too big (and wet) to fit into the drawer.
Honestly, this is the barest I can go.
It’s a REAL bathroom, folks. Not a magazine spread.
So that’s it. I’m pretty pared down, I think.

I love the diva cup. It is a staple!!! I’m not concerned about things being “perfect” because this is real life. I have lots of stuff but I use all of it. I don’t have anything I don’t really use. It is all handy 🙂

I like your soap holder set up! I also like how you have a pretty normal quantity of stuff. Minimalism is about having what you need and use, not being some psycho without any belongings at all.

I’m on a use it up challenge of all the products I have. Rather than tossing unused items, I’m not buying any more until I have used up my stash. Currently at 68 days of not buying any cosmetics – skin care, hair product or make up.
Can I ask how you put the little speech bubbles on your photos?

That’s a really amazing goal!! I’ve been unconsciously doing that for a while now, my stash is pretty much done, except for the makeup side
The speech bubbles are standard in Mac 🙂 You open it in Photo Viewer and then “Annotate” and select the speech bubble.

eek my bathroom is FULL … actually both bathrooms 🙂
But I do keep it neatly packed away in cupboards!
I get lots of free samples, I pour them into empty bottles (shampoo & bath wash & hand soap)for the children who use way too much of everything! Also buy a lot on discount with coupons, so I have a years supply of soap & toothpaste. I might have to take your advise and not buy more until its all finished 🙂 -

Oh my – definitely more minimal than myself! Just too much stuff to use up is my problem – I don’t dislike them enough to turf them, but nonetheless, they linger

That’s the killer part. Stop buying stuff until it’s all gone 🙂 It was hard for me to get to that point but once I did.. I stuck to it.

I used to have only 3 items in my bathtub: a combo bottle of shampoo/conditioner, a bar of soap, and a shower poof. Since my girlfriend moved in, the bathroom accoutrements have grown plentiful. It’s much easier for guys to have a minimalist bathroom.

HAHAH! 🙂 That’s why my partner gave me a bathroom to myself. He has the same as you. Actually, less. Just soap. He uses it for his hair too.. he really isn’t into “stuff”.. and his skin / hair seem to be OK with soap instead of actual shampoo, unlike mine.

Hmm. I have less than you in the washroom but that’s because I don’t keep much in the washroom. I keep make-up/hair ties/creams/lotions/feminine hygiene products/etc-y stuff on my vanity in my room.
As for the washroom I have Dove body wash, Pantene shampoo & conditioner, a face exfoliator sponge, a body exfoliator loofah, a body exfoliator, razor, baby oil, Neutrogena face wash, toothbrush, toothpaste.
(I’m big on exfoliating).

Love the fact you have a Diva cup hiding in there! Some minimalists are concerned about their shelves being white and fresh, but not about the environment… Anyway, I actually expected you would have less, but all the products seem reasonable. I’m in a phase of using up various bits and bobs such as freebies from jobs and gifts… when I’m done I should be pared down to about the same level.
