Travel Tales: Taste of America in Madrid Spain – What they think Americans eat
I came across a store in Madrid that had a “Taste of America” section. It was in a VERY chic grocery store (the best in the city), with fancy goods and chocolates, which made it seem all the more….. absurd to me.
I couldn’t help giggling over the products they chose, and thought I’d share the photos with you:

Complete with Hershey’s Strawberry Syrup at $6.81 USD:
Then you eat some Pop-Tarts with your cake smothered in strawberry syrup (or strawberry-laced milk) at $7.95 for a box of 8 Pop-Tarts.
I thought they totally missed out on stocking Kraft Dinner of all things which to me is quintessential Americana, hotdogs, and potato chips, although I must say that hotdogs and potato chips are already available everywhere as a normal thing to eat in Spain and not a high-end, luxury good.
Oh god, no wonder Americans have a problem with obesity 😛

That’s quite funny 🙂 I’ve seen this as well in the Netherlands but I think they have it so people could try it sometime. I never had a poptart for example 😉

You should totally try a Pop Tart. I had one and I am not a fan but I know it’s a big thing for a lot of people.

To be fair, there’s one store in Abu Dhabi that I occasionally go to because they have Poptarts and Kraft macaroni and cheese and Betty Crocker brownies…… it’s out of my way and overpriced and I don’t go that often, but when I do, it’s totally for these American things, haha.
