Parts of my Minimalist Home (Apartment)… The Laundry Room

By request (you can ask me anything anonymously & quickly here and then I post most of my answers every Friday at noon under my Ask Sherry! category), I was asked to show a bit more of my apartment. I originally posted my closet here, and my fridge here.

My minimalist living room & kitchen in detail was also recently posted.

As mentioned, I will be showing what I can of the apartment. It’s a bit of a mess right now with renovations taking a long time *cough* and some of the features of the apartment are unique and too distinctive to post without claiming to keep anonymity.

So, I am showing you what I can, and how we organize the way we live….

LAUNDRY

Our laundry room is the perfect size. We finally have two FULL SIZED machines and they are amazing.

A dream.

We also have an ironing board to the side, and in that nook, are cleaning supplies (brooms, brushes, etc) to the side of the ironing board.

We have a shelf beside the machines, organized in boxes.

The top holds all of my stocked supplies for contact lens solution, makeup cleaning wipes, and the two big blue boxes are full of sewing supplies, and liquids for cleaning shoes and so on.

We put them WAY UP so that Baby Bun can’t get to them, and start poking his eyes out with needles and sharp objects or swallowing the liquids.

The second shelf is my stock of shampoos, conditioners (I love John Masters Organics shampoos & John Masters Organics conditioners), cotton swabs, etc.

We have my Jiffy E-Steamer, a Brita water filter for the water to use in the iron (we find it gives off a mineral residue on the clothes if we don’t filter it beforehand), and our Rowenta Focus steam iron from Germany.

You can see that beside this rack we also have our portable, cordless, Dyson V6 Animal Cord-Free Vacuum, which I like, but need to use a velcro cord around the Power button to keep it on (and save my thumb) while vacuuming.

I can do the entire 1200 square foot apartment in one go if I don’t put it on Power Max. It is really easy to use, light, and I can never go back to having a corded vacuum nor a heavy one.

The last 3 shelves are for laundry. The black basket is to grab clean laundry from the dryer to put away, and then we put the basket back.

The other baskets are for whites, colours, special items (e.g. silks) and Baby Bun’s clothes.

In the corner of the room, we have a recycling bin for huge glass bottles (wine and water), so that it’s out of the way and not in the kitchen where Baby Bun can tip it over and smash all the glass.
