Some of the responses to what Chinese students think of typical American foods are hilarious.
It’s interesting that we find our cultural food normal (mmm CLAM CHOWDER!!!), but another culture’s food can sometimes seem very odd to us (Filipino balut, or Chinese bird’s nest soup anyone?)
I was also tweeted a link by @matthewchat with images from a book of a Chinese girl who moved to Germany at the age of 14 and created infographics detailing the difference between German and Chinese culture:
I would most definitely consider myself more German in this case, but can “German” be substituted for “Western” then, seeing as I have never lived in Germany?
The punctuality one, and the problem solving approach sealed the deal for which side I’d heartily choose.
TWO.
Nina Garcia’s Manhattan apartment from AD, which she obviously does not take care of on her own (why would she!?) because it is too spotless and white. Plus the kitchen looks unused.
Pretty sure she eats out all the time.
That closet is divine, however. Look at all that SPACE!
At least Nina Garcia is not a politician, because she would have been ridiculed like Theresa May for wearing the most amazing leather jacket.. EVER.

Max out your retirement accounts or at least, put all that you can into those accounts and you could shave off 2 years versus not maxing out your accounts.

Funny you mention balut. I remember watching Fear Factor and one of the challenges was to eat balut – the competitor wanted to throw it up! Being Filipino, I was like, “give me some salt, rice, and it’s on!”

I have never tried balut but I would be game to. That, haggis, and pretty much everything that is cooked I could give it a shot (no live monkey brains please).
I tried cow’s tongue for the first time 3 years ago and got hooked. I was a bit grossed out at first but now I love it.

Design Sponge did a post on that artist recently. I loved the shot they included in their post with all the paper clips. Thought she was amazing too.
I would say the inforgraphic (the Chinese side) also reflects Hawaiian time and style. Some of us are direct but many do avoid addressing something head on and you can be perceived as too aggressive if you do. We do have a very large Asian population so it is definitely influenced by Japanese and Chinese culture/etiquette. I’m more like the Germans but I do try to be a bit more delicate when approaching others, I do still ruffle feathers from time to time though.
Total girl crush on Nina Garcia since the 1st season of Project Runway. She’s up there on the list of famous folks I’d love to meet. I have no actresses on my list, mine are filled with editors like Nina, artists, photographers, writers and of course, Ms. Oprah.

With the other links – I’m surprised I don’t like Nina’s home. There’s just too much going on for my eye.
I like the sandwiches, but the Eaton center stalking is just weird!
And I remember seeing signs for bird nest soup in Malaysia and taking photos, having never heard of it! Now I ‘get’ it, though I’ve not tried it.
