Ebates Canada: (NOT) Perfect for those of us who shop online
UPDATE: DO NOT SHOP WITH EBATES CANADA.
….UNLESS YOU WANT A HASSLE AND A HEADACHE.
When I know what I need, I don’t bother going in-store for it, I just go online and order it.
This happens mostly in Sephora, because you get free shipping over $75.
(Unless the store has free online shipping, I ain’t interested.)
I’ve been hearing about Ebates for a while, and seeing it in Canada, I’m pretty excited that I can earn cash back for doing what I normally do anyway.
Anyway, I signed up for it, haven’t used it yet, but I am planning to, once Sephora has its 20% off sale for VIB members.
I’m going to basically stock up on Yu-Be Cream, Korres White Tea Cleanser, Dr. Dennis Grossman Extra Strength Towelettes and things I use on a regular basis that seem to disappear.
I’m also browsing and saw a few other shops like eLuxe with 8% cash back and free shipping on orders over $25, and Amazon.ca with up to 2% cash back.
Apparently if I refer 4 friends who also sign up and spend at least $25 online, I’ll get $100 if all 4 do it.
My Ebates CANADA referral ID: NPR%2FQePBhyw%3D
Sounds a little complicated to me to require ALL 4 friends to do it, but no pressure.
If you were planning on joining anyway, please consider using my referral link.
Otherwise, I hope it helps you figure out a way to get more money back while shopping online other than using traditional methods like coupons and credit cards with rewards points!
I like CIBC Visa Dividend for 1% back in cash if you spend $3000/year, or PC Financial Mastercard for basically the 1% equivalent in PC points to spend, with no spending limit required. They’re the only two credit cards I really use.
I’ll let you know how it works out for me in general (referrals or not), and if it’s worth it.
