LOOKING BACK
My month went very well all things considered.
I am down this month, but there was a little bank SNAFU that made me lose about $3500 that I am hoping to get cleared up tomorrow (they screwed up, BIG time).
For expenses, I think I did fine in August. I returned a $200 dress, didn’t get that $100 blazer, and ended up $300 richer.
I also went through my wardrobe again to ruthlessly cut down on clothing, and I am realizing it all fits into one suitcase ever since I sold/donated stuff, and have been trying to be conscious about my purchases.
In other areas of my life, things are picking up.
I’m on the verge of some big life changing decisions, but I am very excited and more confident than ever in them. More on that later, once things settle down.
Also, this guy should definitely be snapped up by some company in North America or Europe to teach them how to make prosthetics affordable. If I was in this business, I’d fly to China, find this guy, offer him a job or at least an obscene amount of money, and pick his brain.
Why?
HE MADE HIS OWN ARMS!!!!!!!
INCOME = $10,900.34
- Gross, not net
- I take home around $7800 a month
- I also made some money via my credit card (yay cash back!)
EXPENSES = $9748.98 (net expenses, no taxes)
So I paid about $3000 to the government, but the main expense this month was setting up for a month-long trip to Hong Kong for about $5000.
Yes. I am leaving to spend a month in one of my favourite cities in the world.
HELLO HONG KONG!
AGAIN!!!
A photograph I took of Hong Kong’s Peak the last time I was there.
WHEE!
TOP 5 EXPENSES THIS MONTH
NET WORTH = $211,405.87 which is -$(573.11) or a decrease of 0.27%
I’m rather annoyed at a certain bank right now, as I should be $3500 richer.
Let’s see if they fix their error tomorrow.
LOOKING FORWARD
Forget bachelor pad, this would be great for me
I just don’t really like being near open spaces when I am not on the ground, but otherwise it looks nice.
How did your August go?

I totally was not expecting that he made his own arms!!! That is amazing! WHAT?!! You did a great job last month and totally trying not to be jealous of your month long vacation in Hong Kong. Work hard, play hard. Nice job.
Well my month had a little under $0 for net worth growth which isn’t awesome but… *sigh*
Don’t be jealous! I won’t be making any money while I’m traveling.
My August was pretty good! Somehow, my spending came in at JUST over $2,000! I haven’t spent that little in a month since I was in college!!! Somehow, I doubt things will be that low going forward since I have a ~$600 yearly bill to pay this month and half of the year’s property taxes to pay in October. Plus, I didn’t have to pay HOA dues in August. At one point in the last few days of August, my net worth had only gone down $70 because of a) my low spending and b) my investments had gone up quite a bit. That was pretty cool!
Your trip to Hong Kong should be amazing!!! A whole month – I can’t believe that! I’m curious to hear about your life changing decisions
I’m jealous of your awesome spending. That is incredible, just over $2000. I think I’ll be able to do that next month….
My trip to Hong Kong will be amazing. I was really sad to leave the last time, we just simply didn’t know how awesome it was and that we would need more than 3 weeks to see everything. Now we can go, relax our crazy touring, spend more time and really get our fill of the city.
A whole month is a real luxury. I have a post coming up on how I budgeted for that.
I’m pretty pleased with what I’m going to do with my life going forward. It seems like a small change to me, but significant, nonetheless!
ok those prosthetic arms are AMAZING. That guy should be a biomedical engineer!
Excited to hear about your big life-changing decisions =) and thanks for the shout out!
RIGHT!?
He should totally be hired by a biomedical company. Like now.
