Zooey Deschanel doesn’t spend everything she makes, why should you?
Zooey Deschanel, star of ‘New Girl’ (love!) who has also appeared on ‘Top Chef Masters’, and is the younger sister of Emily Deschanel, the star of ‘Bones’ (another love!) is simply fantastic.
Zooey:
- Makes $95,000 a month which is $1.14 million a year
- 3 credit cards: Amex, Visa, Mastercard — all rocking out a $0 balance!
- $1.578 million in the bank
- $1.645 million in stocks and bonds
- $693,300 in real and personal property
Tell me that isn’t the face of a budgeter!
Girl may not have a need to really track her expenses, but she obviously doesn’t go overboard, especially if you consider how modest her expenses are in relation to her income.
She’s my personal finance idol, and I am aiming to save 75% of my net income.
We could be PF BFFs, I swear.

She makes HOW many times more than those people complaining that they can’t make it on their incomes? And she spends less than they do proportionally? As an absolute value, yes, she spends twice as much but again, she makes ten times more. I’m going to say, yeah. You’re fine.
Live within your means I say!!!
That’s how people build wealth or if they’re already affluent, that’s how they stay wealthy.
Honestly I don’t care what she does with her money. It’s her life. People on other forums were complaining how much she spent on her clothes each month, on her cell, on eating out, etc.I will never criticize anyone like her because she’s not spending herself into debt, she has savings, and seems to be making sound money decisions. ;)
I thought she was quite reasonable in her spending, considering her income.
In an earlier post, a guy (I presume) was shocked I’d spend $90 on a pair of shoes in Singapore, he was expecting $9 on shoes in Singapore.
It’s all relative
Made me think:
1) $9 = Cheap shoes ANYWHERE that will pinch your feet unless they’re flip flops
2) Did he know I was referring to Singapore? Not Cambodia? Thailand? Indonesia? SINGAPORE? One of the most expensive countries in the world!?
But it goes to show, to each their own!
Not to mention that she spends twice as much on groceries as on eating out!

Right?? She is quite literally perfect. It sucks her expenses were leaked to the internet, but she has nothing to be embarrassed about!
It does suck that her expenses were leaked but she is darn responsible!
