A lot of things stay the same (Bose headphones for instance), but I like to see if I can improve each time I travel to make my flight more comfortable and enjoyable.

Yah I always travel with an iPod (essential for blocking out crying babies), neck pillow (God forbid you fall asleep on a stranger’s shoulder), hoodie or cardigan (it’s uncomfortable trying to keep a blanket on you), a couple magazines and a book (though if it’s an international flight I get sucked into watching movies), flip flops or UGGS depending on the season (easy to slip off during security).

Here are some other items that weren’t on your list – socks (help keep your feet warm), glasses (if you wear contacts and they dry out), and empty water bottle (you can fill it from the water fountain after you get through security to save on buying expensive drinks).

    • I normally slip on socks on a long flight if I wear flats! Thanks for the reminder.
As for water bottles, that’s a great idea. I tend to buy my drinks there, so I’ve never thought about carrying a bottle.
I also never check anything in, so great catch on the glasses if you wear them. I carry a lubricating contact lens bottle thing instead :)

My solution to the cashmere wrap is scarves. They double up to keep my arms warm if I get cold at my desk or to make low-cut shirts more work appropriate. They’re amazing on planes too :) The trick is to find a way to not pack all of my scarves for a trip… I have so many now that I’ve stopped counting :/

I will never travel without a fully charged 3G Kindle. Getting stuck with no books to read and no airport wi-fi SUCKS.

I use my iPod for music listening on planes, but at home, I use my TV, phone or computer. I actually surprised myself that I use my iPod far more as a time-telling device while running than I do use it to listen to music!

    • I use my iPhone as everything now!!!!!

It is kind of sad :)

I also think music really gets the time to pass quickly rather than reading. Watching videos does it for me too but it is more interactive (eyes required) than music.

  3. I definitely want to travel more, and therefore will be spending more time on a plane. The flats and the wrap are awesome all the time! I also really need (read: want) a pair of headphones like those.

The last time I was on a plane it was for 7 hours and I was hot/cold/uncomfortable/earphoneless/bored.
